ANIMAL SCIENCES 310
GRADING
A non-accumulative exam will be
given every two weeks. Only the best scores on four exams will be used to
calculate your grade. If you have to miss an exam, for whatever reason
(i.e. snow storm, illness (even with med. excuse), emergency, traffic problems,
class field trips or extracurricular (judging) events) that will be the
discarded exam. If you miss more than one exam then a zero will be weighed into
the "best of four" average. Sorry but extra-credit projects or papers
are not available. Historically, about 80% of students improve their average grade
after seriously taking all five exams and dropping the lowest score. Plan for the unexpected. Finally,
students are responsible for transposing answers correctly from the question sheets
onto their scantron.
The fifth unit exam will be no
different than the format of the first four exams and will be taken on the last
Friday of classes. Based on the above formula, the final exam could be
considered “optional”. Graduating seniors are eligible for the last (fifth)
exam.
Grades will be based on the 90, 80,
65 and 50 as a minimum for an A, B, C and D, respectively. A "+" or
"-" may be added to this grade as follows; 92-90 A-,89-87 B+,82-80
B-,79-77 C+, 69-65 C-, 64-60 D+.
Each student is expected to read and
understand the OSU “Code of Student Conduct”.
Old exam questions are available on
the web site. These questions are meant
as a study guide only and one should expect differences with forthcoming examinations.
Asking me if we covered the subject of an old question declares to me you have
been missing lectures.
CARMEN
SITE
Carmen will be used to post
grades. A zero represents a missed exam (or a really really bad day). In
case of an emergency, you will be contacted by email using the CARMEN class
list (the ‘osu.edu’ address), so check it if we have a severe storm.
