Jeanne M Osborne
Program/Administrative Coordinator

Education:
B.S. and M.S., Animal Science

Experience: My career in research began in the area of muscle growth and development in an Animal Science laboratory. After four years gaining a lot of practical laboratory experience, I moved to a laboratory in Internal Medicine, studying immune function in humans. Eight years of research experience and mentoring by my supervisor grew me into a laboratory director supervising research staff, graduate and undergraduate students (and occasionally my supervisor when he wanted to get back into the lab and get his hands "dirty"). In 1999, I made a decision to move from bench work to an administrative position, and rejoined the Department of Animal Sciences as an Administrative Associate, working with our Department Chair.

Description of Responsibilities: My working title is "Program/Administrative Coordinator". I am responsible for assisting in the administrative duties of the Chair, including, but not limited to: writing grant proposals associated with programmatic activities of the Department; assisting faculty members in grant writing endeavors, programmatic requirements and development opportunities; participating in curriculum development for the Department; assisting in the development of endowment opportunities for the Department of Animal Sciences; interacting with the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences to assist in activities required of the Chair and the Associate Chair; interacting with College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) to assist in building a collaborative interaction between the Department of Animal Sciences and faculty members with food animal agriculture interests in the CVM; assisting in the establishment or continuation of relationships with stakeholders, students and clientele of the Department of Animal Sciences, other departments within the CFAES, other Colleges within The Ohio State University and with other universities by attending meetings, seminars and other events.
