Undergraduate Research![]() The Department of Animal Sciences offers a variety of options for undergraduates to conduct research in an area of their interest. A research project is an alternative to classroom learning. Research provides students an excellent opportunity to explore animal sciences topics from a hands-on perspective. Research contributes to expanded knowledge through studious inquiry. It consists of investigation or experimentation aimed at improving our understanding of the biology of animals. Research can include everything from isolating a specific gene to developing improved methods of estrus synchronization to investigating the workings of the digestive system.
