Beef Center

The Ohio State Beef Center provides animals for teaching and research endeavors of the University. Currently, the facility houses 120 spring calving cows and approximately 40 fall calving cows. These animals are of Angus, Simmental, and Angus x Simmental breeding. Steer calves are sent to Wooster for feedlot trials, and heifer calves are retained for research projects and replacement females.

Live animals are required for evaluation classes so students can learn what is actually happening in an industry setting. Most of the research projects conducted are performed to help increase the profitability of producers around the state.
