Department History
The Department of Animal Sciences follows a rich tradition dating back to 1902 when the Department of Animal Husbandry formed at The Ohio State University. A dairy department already existed, but as Ohio State grew so did animal sciences. Click here for a snapshot of our history.

Animal Science Hall of Fame
The Animal Science Hall of Fame, which recognizes distinguished alumni of the department, was initiated in 1943.

Dairy Science Hall of Service
The Dairy Science Hall of Service, which recognizes pioneers of the dairy industry who have provided service to the dairy industry of Ohio, was initiated in 1952.
