The livestock judging team more or less started in the early 1900s when a meeting was convened to "consider the matter of student judging contests as connected with the annual International Livestock Exposition, which is held at Chicago. It is especially desirable that all students connected with the College of Agriculture will be present at this meeting, as plans may be formulated for a number of representatives to be chosen to represent this college in the judging contest next year." Ohio State Lantern, April 17, 1901.
