Dairy Judging Program Autumn 2012 Update

Oct. 29, 2012
COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Ohio State University Scarlet team also competed in fall contests held at the Pennsylvania All American and World Dairy Expo. The team was composed of Marc Bolen of Fremont, Samantha Grizzell of Kingston, and Keith Gibson of Springfield. Although Marc was quite comfortable as a contestant since he was on ATI’s second place team at Madison, it was the first contests for Samantha and Keith.  With a finish in the top ten teams at the All American, the team also finished in the middle of the National Dairy Collegiate Dairy Judging Contest at Madison during World Dairy Expo.  However, Marc finished with his very best day and ended his judging career on a high note as the 11th high individual overall and receiving the “All American” title.  Another noteworthy accomplishment was his 5th high score in placings, and the fact that his breed placings included 3rd high in Red and White, 9th in Brown Swiss, 6th in Guernseys, and 14th in Holsteins.  Keith Gibson also claimed high honors as the 3rd high individual in Jerseys.  Since he had never judged or presented reasons till 4 months ago, it was a personal victory for him. Again, we would like to thank the dairy industry, host farms, volunteers, and the generous donors to our program.  The experience is worthy of all your time and efforts and binds these students together as they pursue future careers.
