Highlights of the 2012 Livestock Judging Team

March 22, 2013

From Kyle Culp, Livestock Evaluation Leader: A few other highlights from the 2012 team I wanted to share that have recently come to light:

  • 3 students applied for Top 20 Senior in our college – all 3 received the honor, Bailey Harsh, Linsey Howell, and Trey Miller – Congratulations!
  • Nick Wright, has been notified he will be awarded the top internship award for an Animal Sciences student as a result of his internship last summer with Murphy Brown – Good job, Nick!
  • Kyle Nickles, another 2012 OSU LJT member, has completed an undergraduate research project and will be competing in the Denman Undergraduate Research Forum on our campus – Good luck, Kyle!
  • Jake Boyert’s family exhibited the Champion Shorthorn Bull at Ohio Beef Expo, and his younger brother, Clayton, exhibited the Supreme Champion Heifer in the junior show – Outstanding performance!
  • Nate Benich stopped in my office this week and is looking forward to some upcoming job opportunities.  Good luck, Nate!
  • Lindsey Grimes is on internship at Gardiner Angus Ranch in Kansas, and is looking to begin graduate school at Kansas State University in the fall – EMAW, Lindsey!
  • Audrey Neal accepted a position with Ag Credit shortly after graduation in January, and is busy lambing and selling sheep with her dad.  The lambs look great in the pictures!
  • Finally, I am VERY proud to report that for the second year in a row the LJT students improved their overall GPA during the fall semester (most intense judging semester)!  Thank you for working so hard!
