On April 5th and 6th, the OSU Meats Judging Team participated in the Southeastern Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest which was hosted by Ohio State University, the Meat Processing Career Center at the Pickaway Correctional Institution, and the University of Kentucky. Nine universities participated in the contest resulting in 62 students and 12 teams. Nine students (Mark Grivel, Brittany Hopkins, Brittany Janita, Brandon Klehm, Kalleigh Mason, Eric Pitcher, Garth Ruff, Jacob Ruffing, and Melanie Vaughn-Bright) represented Ohio Sate during the two-day event and results are as follows: OSU-Scarlet Team was 2nd in specifications, 3rd in Beef Grading, and 6th in Overall Beef; the OSU Grey Team was 5th in Beef Grading and 6th in Overall Pork Judging; Brandon Klehm was 1st Overall, 1st in Beef Grading and Overall Beef, 2nd in Specifications and Beef Judging, and 5th in Reasons; Garth Ruff was 12th overall, 5th in Specifications, and 14th in Overall Beef; Kalleigh Mason was 12th in Beef Judging; Brittany Hopkins was 12th in Pork Judging and 15th in Beef Grading; Eric Pitcher was 12th in Beef Grading and 15th in Overall Beef; and Mark Grivel was 11th in Specifications.
