Animal Sciences faculty Dr. Stephen Boyles has been recognized as a 2024 College of Food, Agriculture, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) Distinguished Teacher. He has primarily taught the contemporary issues class and has also taught the our 3130 animal nutrition course several times. He has had the lead in capstone and career classes. In his teaching and advising, Boyles has impacted the lives of thousands of students. He worked with many young people with backgrounds in production agriculture and always took a mentor approach. Since he has stepped foot on campus Cameron McCurdy has been 100% committed to leaving the Department of Animal Sciences, the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences and The Ohio State University better than he found it.

Animal Sciences student Michael Zuccaro appreciates how much he’s learned while at Ohio State, from improving communication skills to learning how to live a healthier lifestyle in order to alleviate stress. “I’ve learned to stay active, eat healthily, engage with my community, study hard, and pray,” he commented.

Animal Sciences student and Honors Program member Hannah Largen embodies the CFAES mission and Buckeye spirit through her scholarship, research, service, and leadership. Hannah also took her interest in human-animal interactions to new levels of prize-winning research.

Melinda Jones "Mindy" comes to CFAES as our new Office Services Coordinator. She has a very diverse background in office administration and customer service. Mindy is new to Ohio, hailing from the DMV (DC/Maryland/Virginia) areas May of last year. She has worked for United healthcare in Maryland as a Clinical Administrative Coordinator, Kemper House in Worthington as an Administrative Assistant/Receptionist, and Executive Assistant/Deputy Town Clerk in Lake County Florida.

Dr. Stephen Boyles will retire from his role in the Department of Animal Sciences at The Ohio State University in March of 2024, following thirty plus years of service to our students, faculty, and the Ohio community at large. Boyles service to the department has been critical in the advancement of the Department of Animal Sciences through his adaptability and flexibility in his extension and teaching endeavors.

Cindy Coy will retire from her role in the Department of Animal Sciences at The Ohio State University in March of 2024, following forty-four years of service to Ohio State and twenty-six years of service in her current position of research supervisor in Animal Sciences where her contributions to research have advanced the field of poultry science.
