One-Year Internship at W.H. Miner Agricultural Research Institute

A one-year internship work experience is offered in Agricultural Research to graduates of 4-year degree programs interested in exploring career opportunities in agricultural research! Research skills will be developed in a variety of areas but will be focused mainly on dairy cattle nutrition, calf/heifer nutrition, dairy cattle behavior, and agronomy. Students will gain work experience in the dairy research facility: feeding cows/heifers/calves for individual feed intakes, milk sampling, urine/fecal sampling, blood sampling, caring for ruminally cannulated cows and assessing dairy cattle behavior. Agronomic and nutrient management research techniques for evaluating crop performance, ensiling practices and optimizing nutrient integration and retention in soils may also be learned.

Leadership skills will be developed once proficiency in various skill sets has been demonstrated. The intern will be provided with opportunities to serve as a mentor for Advanced Dairy Management and Summer Experience in Agricultural Research students.

This is a paid internship position and includes housing and meals when the Miner Institute cafeteria is open. Additional benefits are also offered. For more information, please contact Katie Ballard at ballard@whminer.com.
