Summer Scholar on Livestock Health Project

We are seeking a Summer Scholar to join our research team for a 14-week summer program (mid-May through mid-August) focused on tick surveillance on agricultural properties and development of training materials for future student researchers. This role involves substantial hands-on fieldwork on farms in rural Ohio, and applicants should be comfortable working outdoors in pastures for extended periods, including in hot summer conditions and around livestock. The scholar will also participate in laboratory activities such as tick identification and data management. This position offers valuable experience in vector-borne disease research at the livestock-wildlife interface and participation in the VectorEd Student Training Network, where trainees gain skills in field and lab techniques, data analysis, and science communication with the option of earning certificates of completion. Ideal candidates will have completed at least 3 years of an undergraduate degree, some farm or field experience, an interest in vector-borne diseases, and a background in a related field. Please contact Risa Pesapane.1@osu.edu for more information on how to apply.
