“How to Solve Problems on Dairy Farms”

The Departments of Animal Sciences and Veterinary Preventive Medicine will be offering a 1 week short course on “How to Solve Problems on Dairy Farms”.

Dates: April 25 starting about 9 am through April 29 about 5 pm

Location: Gerlaugh Hall, OARDC, Wooster

This is a very intensive course (40+ hours of course time) that covers all major aspects of commercial milk production. For the first half of every day, the group meets in a classroom setting and a single topic is discussed. In the afternoon the class goes to a local dairy farm, evaluates the farm, and writes a letter of recommendations for the producer.  The evenings usually consist of an industry-sponsored dinner and less formal discussion.

Milk quality/mastitis/milking machine function
Reproduction/records
Business management
Facilities

The course is free to AS graduate students but you must register in advance and participate for the entire week.
Lunches and most dinners will be sponsored but you will be responsible for housing and breakfast
