DEADLINE TODAY!! Mississippi State University has launched two first-of-their-kind opportunities for undergraduate students, now accepting applications for summer 2026. Programs are extremely limited in size and applications close February 10.
Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine Summer Veterinary Internships allow undergraduate students to participate in a short-term intensive academic veterinary program offered by a US vet school while gaining international experience.
This is offered to pre-veterinary students who may be looking for summer opportunities to gain experience under the supervision of a veterinarian. On these programs offered by MSU CVM, students can expect:
- Credit from Mississippi State University
- Veterinary hours earned in clinic and field settings under close supervision of a veterinarian
- Experience with varied types of animals, including wildlife, aquatics, large animal, and companion animal
This new offering at Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine adds to our long-running Tropical Veterinary Medicine and One Health in Uganda course. This program is also open to U.S. undergraduate students focuses on animal production and health management, wildlife health, disease surveillance, public health, food safety and security, as well as other One Health principles while infusing multicultural experiences. It is unique in that it brings together pre-veterinary and veterinary students, allowing undergraduates to work alongside current vet students and MSU CVM faculty. Many families find this especially valuable, as it gives pre-vet students insight into the academic and daily realities of veterinary school.
