The Ohio State University CFAES presented the 2022-2023 CFAES faculty award recipients on March 23, 2023. The event took place prior to the State of the College address which also took place March 23. Dean Kress took part in the event which was held at the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center Auditorium in Columbus, Ohio. To view the recorded awards program Click Here. Dr. Jeffrey Firkins's article “Invited Review: Advances in Rumen Efficiency” has been selected by the editor-in-chief of Applied Animal Science to be designated as Editor’s Choice for this issue on the journal’s website.

Burk Dehority (1930-2016) was a professor at The Ohio State University and the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center for over 50 years in the Animal Sciences Department specializing in Rumen Microbiology. Ruminants are hoofed mammals that have a unique digestive system that allows them to better use energy from fibrous plant material than other herbivores.
Ms. Yairanex (Yairy) Roman Garcia was born and raised in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Ms. Roman Garcia is currently a Ph.D. student specializing in Dairy Nutrition at The Ohio State University working with Dr. Jeffrey Firkins where she has been awarded the SROP Fellowship. Yairy earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science at the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez Campus doing research in swine nutrition and was awarded the Samuel Bacherov award presented to the best Animal Science student. The title of Ms.
