Fort Worth, TX- The Dairy Judging Team at the Ohio State University kicked off the 2024 season at the Fort Worth Stock Show (FWSS). Students Lindsay Davis, Rachel Sherman, Grant Debruin, and Brady McCumons – all Animal Sciences students – left FWSS as the 5th High Team in the collegiate competition.

Bonnie Ayars was among four recipients for the 2021 outstanding individuals honored with the National Dairy Shrine's Pioneer Award in recognition of their significant contributions to the dairy industry. Bonnie's portrait and accomplishments will be displayed in the National Dairy Shrine's Dairy Hall of Fame and Museum in Ft. Atkinson, Wisconsin. Bonnie is a Dairy Program Specialist in the Department of Animal Sciences since 2006.
The other three recipients of the award were Dieter Krieg, Dr. Ric Grummer, and Darrell Pidgeon.
Dairy Program Specialist and Dairy Judging Team Coach Bonnie Ayars has been featured in a chapter in the book, "The Land of Milk & Money: Lessons Learned & Business Earned from Women in Dairy." In the chapter devoted to Ayars, she discusses lessons learned growing up on a dairy farm, working as part of the Ayars Family Farm, and her role as a dairy educator.
Recently, Dairy Extension and Teaching Specialist, Bonnie Ayars, provided the keynote speech for the 2019 Minnesota All Breeds Dairy Convention. Ayars spoke during the All-Breeds Banquet about "true grit".

The COBA/Select Sires donation of an ET calf has raised more than $19,000 in funds for The Ohio State University Dairy Judging Program. The funds, raised during the Buckeye Classic Sale at the Spring Dairy Expo, will be used to help with program travel expenses. The fundraising project, known as the “Clipboard Project”, allowed interested donors to either invest in $100 investment/donor shares or bid on the donated calf during the Buckeye Classic Sale. More than 100 donors came forth to display their support through donor shares and the calf was auctioned for $8500.
The OSU Dairy Judging Team of Laura Bond, Colton Harstine, Ella Jackson, and Meghan Sanders participated in the contest located at the Fort Worth Stock Show in Texas on Sunday, January 17. The team finished 2nd in the Jersey breed and Ella Jackson was 5th high individual overall. She also placed in the top 5 in two breeds, as well as 3rd high individual in reasons. With 14 participating teams, this winter destination continues to grow in popularity!
