Research Specialist (Cow-Calf) at the University of Missouri

The University of Missouri is seeking qualified individuals to oversee the care and management of the cow-calf system at its Beef Research and Teaching Farm located in Columbia, MO. More information Here

Key Responsibilities:

  • 25% - Work with MU faculty, research staff, and graduate students to implement protocols important to the care and management of the beef breeding herd and activities related to breeding, calving and grazing cow-calf pairs at the University of Missouri to support its research and teaching missions.
  • 20% - Provide daily care of animals in a manner described in various experimental protocols for animal research or standard operating procedures.
  • 20% - Operation of equipment needed in the care and management of cattle together with the need to perform routine maintenance and repair on equipment and facilities used for cattle management.
  • 10% - Flexibility to also assist occasionally with care of cattle in feedlot, stocker, and backgrounding production settings.
  • 10% - Delivering different feed rations and stored forages to cattle and maintaining accurate feeding records.
  • 10% - Work with other staff and faculty to create and assign tasks for student workers and provide oversight for their duties.
  • 5% - Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
