Animal Sciences and CFAH Faculty Receive Research Grant Awards

Congratulations to Dr. Gireesh Rajashekara and Dr. Renukaradhya Gourapura from the Center of Food Animal Health and Dr. Kichoon Lee and Dr. Zhongtang Yu from the Department of Animal Sciences on being awarded research grants.
 

Dr. Gireesh Rajashekara and Dr. Renukaradhya Gourpura were awarded a $625,100 Food Safety grant from USDA-NIFA for their research on "Drinking water deliverable chitosan based Salmonella and Campylobacter subunit vaccine for broilers".

Dr. Kichoon Lee received his grant award from USDA-NIFA in the area of Agriculture and Food Research Initiative for his research on the "Role of retinol and retinol-binding protein 7 gene in regulation of avian adiposgenesis".

Dr. Zhongtang Yu was awarded $484,000 as a collaborator for his part in the research of "Systematic characterization of variability in municipal solid wastes streams to identify critical material attributes for fuel production.  The PI is Dr. S. Lansing of the University of Maryland.  Dr. Yu's part focuses on the microbiological characterization of municipal solid wastes.  He will collaborate with the OSU Food Waste Collaborative and Quasar on this project.
