The Department of Animal Sciences had five of the 25 Distinguished Seniors recognized in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences. This award is given to those seniors who excel in academics and scholarship, research and innovation, service and involvement, and influence and leadership. The seniors recognized were:
The Department was also well represented among the Newcomb Scholars, which recognizes the top five students of each class based on cumulative GPA at the end of Autumn 2019. The Department of Animal Sciences Newcomb Scholars (Rank 2) included:
The University created the Sesquicentennial Student Scholar Leadership Program to honor 150 students and awards them $2500 scholarships while they develop their leadership skills and ambassador opportunities. Two of the Animal Sciences students were awarded scholarships:

- CFAES Internship Award – This award recognizes excellence in an internship in the students field.

Her internship project, under the supervision of Dr. Anastasia Vlasova, was working with rotavirus C in gnotobiotic piglets to compare virulence and pathogenicity of historic strains to current emerging strains.

Student Organization Excellence Awards
The Buckeye Dairy Club received the Student Organization Excellence award for community engagement. This is presented to a student organization that demonstrates the importance of serving the broader campus or external community through hands-on service activities, philanthropic or fundraising events, or other community-related pursuits.
The Pre-Veterinary Medical Association Club received two Student Organization Excellence awards. The first award is for active citizenship. It is presented to a student organization that has demonstrated a commitment to diversity and inclusion, advocacy and education, political involvement, socially responsible behavior, activism, and participation in state, national or global associations. The second award was presented to them for supporting one or more goals of the CFAES vision statement through activities.
