The Ohio State University, Department of Animal Sciences is proud to announce that Dr. Lyda Garcia is the recipient of the Educator Award presented by the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA). This distinguished criterion-based award is to recognize educators whose efforts represent the very best in agricultural higher education.
Formed in 1955, NACTA is a professional society that focuses on the scholarship of teaching and learning agriculture and related disciplines at the postsecondary level. Its mission is to:
- Provide for all post-secondary teachers of agriculture a forum for discussion of questions and issues relating to the professional advancement of agricultural discussion.
- Seek improvement in the post-secondary teaching of agriculture through examination and discussion of courses and curricula, teaching and testing techniques, facilities and materials.
- Encourage, promote and reward instructional excellence in agriculture and the research supporting this instruction.
Dr. Garcia’s significant stance on higher education and agriculture is well known. We are proud to have her as faculty in the Department of Animal Sciences and greatly appreciate the great work she has done, and continues to do.
