Dr. Vittoria Capria, won first place in the Research Poster section at the 2022 American Association of Laboratory Animal Science meeting in Louisville, KY. Her poster abstract was based on her research project:
Analysis of Water-based Foam as a Depopulation Method for Adult Cattle
VM Capria*, A Arruda, T Cheng, M Campler, B Youngblood, S Moeller, A Bowman, J Kieffer
The AALAS National Meeting was held during the last week of October and is the largest gathering in the world of professionals concerned with the production, care, and use of laboratory animals. Several faculty and staff members from the Office of the Attending Veterinarian (OAV) as well as three OSU veterinary students attended the meeting. OAV's third-year veterinary resident, Vittoria Capria, presented two posters and gave a clinical presentation. Her poster on evaluation of foam depopulation of adult cattle won first place prize in the research division. This research was conducted with Dr. Justin Kieffer in the Department of Animal Sciences and Drs. Andreia Arruda and Andrew Bowman in the Department of Veterinary Preventive Medicine. Vittoria reports that meeting attendees asked many questions and that she received lots of positive feedback as many attendees weren't aware of the need for alternative depopulation methods in agricultural species.
