Nora Bello Receives ASA Presidential Award for 2021

Oct. 18, 2021

Congratulations to Dr. Nora Bello on receiving the ASA Presidential Award for 2021!

The American Society of Agronomy President Dr. Jeffrey Volenec (Purdue University) is recognizing Experiment Station Statisticians, many of whom are involved in the NCCC-170 Regional Research Committee, with the ASA Presidential Award for 2021.  Specifically, the award is being presented as a certificate to long-time attending members of the NCCC170 and/or those involved in outreach activities.  The award will be presented to a NCCC170 representative at the upcoming 2021 ASA, CSSA, SSSA International Annual Meeting this November.

In Dr. Volenec’s words, this award recognizes “… an individual or group that has impacted our society members in a substantive and lasting way. Past recipients include outstanding researchers or research teams, leaders of major ag funding organizations, major ag corporations, leaders who organized the women’s farmer movement in Africa, thought leaders in ag data science at the National Ag Library”. This year, the award is presented to, I quote, “a large group of largely unsung contributors to our science and education of students-Experiment Station Statisticians”. Also, regarding the award, Volenec indicated that “this is an earned honor for our stats colleagues who have provided critical education and consulting/mentoring of our students, faculty and staff over the years. They have largely done this behind the scenes, and the recognition is overdue.”
