OSU students take home first and third place at the Tri-State Dairy Nutrition Conference

2023 Tri-State Dairy Nutrition Conference

Students from the Department of Animal Sciences partipated in the Tri-State Dairy Nutrition Conference held April 10-12, 2023 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Among those in attendance were Grace Praisler, Kirsten Clark, and KiYeon Park; each of them winning an award.

Grace Praisler – First place undergraduate presentation on “Protozoan Genera Ellipsoid Grace Praisler Volumes  Impacted by Specific Mycotoxins”, mentored by Benjamin Wenner.

"I am from Medina, Ohio. Finishing an Animal Bioscience Major with a Meat Science Minor and heading to graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for Dairy Sciences in fall of 2023. My favorite memory at OSU is completing protozoa research with Dr. Wenner."

Kirsten Clark – Frist place in MS presentation on “Determining Factors That Affect Kirsten Clark Negative Production R esponses When Feeding Corn Dried Distillers Grains in Lactating Dairy Cows, mentored by Chanhee Lee.

"I grew up on my family’s dairy farm in Birnamwood, Wisconsin. After completing my bachelor’s degree in dairy science at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, I came to OSU to pursue my master’s degree in Dr. Chanhee Lee’s lab focusing on dairy nutrition and nutrient management. After graduation, I will be moving to Michigan where I've accepted a position with Land O’ Lakes as a Dairy Sales Specialist."

KiYeon Park – Third place in PhD presentation on “Effects of Branched-Chain Volatile Fatty AcidsKiyeon Park at Different Levels of Rumen Degradable Protein on Milk Production and Nutrients Digestibility in Lactating Cows”, mentored by Chanhee Lee.

 

"I'm from South Korea, and received my B.S. and M.S. of Animal Science and Technology in Konkuk University, Seoul, Korea. I'm in my first year in the OSUN program. I have not decided what I am going to do after graduation, but one thing I want to acheive before my graduation would be get the first place in the tri-state conference."
