  3. Please join CHAIRE for an enjoyable evening featuring Dr. Temple Grandin! The evening will include a short introduction to CHAIRE, a plated dinner, a silent auction, animals from the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium, a presentation by Dr. Peter Neville, and a presentation by Dr. Temple Grandin.

    On August 4, 2019, The Ohio State University awarded 1,661 degrees and certificates during the summer 2019 commencement at the Schottenstein Center. The Department of Animal Sciences awarded 10 undergraduate degrees and two graduate degrees.

  6. Getting up close—and a little dirty—with farm animals just might help us fend off illness, say researchers who’ve further demonstrated the benefits of early exposure to a wide variety of environmental bacteria.

  7. The Swine Center welcomed a new Farm Manager, Gracee Workman, over the summer. Workman joins Herd Manager Larry Warnock.

  8. Five Zamorano University students have been selected for the Columbus-campus, pilot program of The Ohio State University (OSU) College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) Internship Program.

  9. PhD student Kaylin Chasser was awarded the Student Research Paper Certificate of Excellence at the 2019 Poultry Science Association (PSA) Annual Meeting in Montreal, Canada.

  11. Farmers are trying to keep their animals well fed amid a Midwest shortage in hay and other grasses grown for livestock to eat.

  12. Dr. Thaddeus Ezeji, associate professor Department of Animal Sciences, has been awarded a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

  13. The Department of Animal Sciences had many faculty and a PhD student presenting at the American Dairy Science Association Annual Meeting. The top departmental honor went to Dr. William "Bill" Weiss, OARDC/Animal Sciences.

  14. The Department of Animal Sciences Chair, Dr. John Foltz, was recently elected to the Farm Foundation Board of Directors. Foltz joined the Department as Chair in October 2017.

  15. Over the summer, Adjunct Faculty member Dr. Paul Hemsworth was awarded the Member of the Order of Australia and the Universities Federations for Animal Welfare (UFAW) Medal for significant services to agricultural and animal welfare.
