CAMPUS NEWS & EVENTS

  1. Congratulations to the 2022 Undergraduate Research Forum winners! 

  2. Take a break and refresh in the Animal Sciences Lobby the week of April 18th and 25th.  We will have coloring books, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, fruit and snacks for all to enjoy.  We wish you all the best as you finish up the term – You Got This!

     

INTERNSHIP & PART-TIME ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. ST Genetics OHC is looking for students interested in working in their automatic calf feeder barns. They have 11 Lely Automatic calf feeders feeding roughly 400 calves daily.

  2. ST Genetics is looking for highly motivated individuals to fill part-time and full-time positions in their Calf Care department!
    Responsibilities include: 

  3. The zebrafish facility on campus has several student assistant positions available this summer ($13/hour). They welcome applications from students who would like to gain experience in aquatic animal care and life support systems.

  4. Assist with surgeries and support ambulatory doctors in the field; at Desert Pines Equine, you’ll see it all!

  5. Crossroads Land and Livestock has three different internships available for those interested in ranching! There is a three month, six month, and twelve month program. See attached for more information! 

  6. TAG Farms is looking for a Stable Hand and has an internship available! See the flyers below for more information:

FULL-TIME JOB ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. ST Genetics is a cattle genetic facility that focuses on producing the next line of high-quality bulls and heifers. They have various opportunities on farm involving calf care, maternity, and fresh cow work.

  2. Crossroads Land and Livestock is looking for a Production Manager! See attached for more information. 

  3. The Ohio State University Waterman Dairy is looking for students with experience operating agricultural equipment to feed cattle, perform routine equipment maintenance, and assist with daily farm operation, corn silage production, & pasture management.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

  1. In 2021, 15 scholarships totaling $59,000 were awarded to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing an ag degree and are active leaders in their community and the beef industry. Applications will be open next week for graduate and undergraduate scholarships ranging from $1,000 - $7,500.

LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT

  1. Faculty at The Ohio State University are offering a two-day (May 6th and 7th) in-person program for farm owners and employees that aims to provide marketable skills for participants while promoting the health and welfare of dairy animals.

  1. All OSU Counseling and Consultation Services (CCS) staff were sent home to tele-commute until further notice.The CCS phone line 614-292-5766 remains available for emergency assistance 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.
