Camp Tecumseh YMCA, in Central Indiana, is looking for individual who love working with horses and kids in a great summer camp environment!  We are hiring for summer-long positions for both Equestrian Camp Counselors as well as Barn Assistants/Instructors.  Both are paid positions that include on-site housing in either cabins or non-cabin support staff housing.  Some equestrian experience is required, but applicants need not be "expert level."  Contact Joel Sieplinga, Summer Camp Director, at joels@camptecumseh.org for more information.

Hidden Acre Dairy Group, LLC is seeking an intern who has the vision and determination to break out of the typical dairy ways and help create a new path for this evolving industry. HADG is offering a product new to the East Coast and wants someone who has the drive to put a company on the map. Wild Horse Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity located on a rural Mc Dermott property in Scioto County, Ohio. The farm features Equine of all types. Many have been abused or starved at one point in their lives and need human interaction. Natural Horsemanship methods are used for caring for the animals. Understanding herd behavior and how they react to pressure is required of all applicants.  The intern will be supervised and assisted when needed for safety purposes. All work with the horses is determined by round pen conditions due to weather. The intern must have extensive experience around horses as most of the horses here have been abused and/or have poor ground manners due to lack of proper training.

The intern should live in the area and provide their own transportation to and from the facility. Unfortunately, Wild Horse Rescue cannot pay for the services nor provide any benefits other than knowledge of the equine handling. A working cattle and family ranch located near Dubois, Wyoming needs a summer employee. Duties include but are not limited to: cutting lawns, spraying weeds, mending fences, watering lawns and pastures. Some horseback riding experience is preferred. The National Poultry & Food Distributors Association awards scholarships to various students of agricultural colleges and universities across the United States. Since its inception in 1985, the North American Meat Institute (NAMI) Scholarship Foundation has granted tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships to exceptional undergraduate students pursuing degrees in the Animal, Meat and Food Sciences. The goal of the Foundation is to create a self-perpetuating endowment that will fund scholarships well into the 21st Century.

Undergraduates majoring in Animal/Meat/Food Science with an orientation toward the post harvest processing of meat and poultry food products or enrolled in a Culinary (Art) Science program, are encouraged to apply. A Day in the Life of a Buckeye is a program that offers a one-on-one experience for inner city and Appalachian area high school sophomores and juniors to experience life at The Ohio State University, and college in general, for a day. This visit, hosted by currently enrolled undergraduate students, often includes attending classes, interacting with faculty and staff, eating in campus-area dining facilities, visiting the library and recreational facilities, attending student group meetings, and seeing a residence hall room. All OSU Counseling and Consultation Services (CCS) staff were sent home to tele-commute until further notice.The CCS phone line 614-292-5766 remains available for emergency assistance 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Students can push 2 to reach a mental health counselor at any time.

CCS has suspended onsite and in person services, including those at embedded locations, through at least May 3, 2020.  You are still able to connect with a counselor  for a 30 minute phone or video consultation using Carmen Zoom or Skype. These consultations are offered 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday through Friday in order to check in with students, problem solve, and offer support.  Students will need to share their address/location at the time of the call.

Students can access many self-help tools that are available on the CCS website at https://ccs.osu.edu . The CCS COVID-19 updates page linked to the website is a great resource. On that page, students will find helpful coping skills such as the mental health strategies video series. This time that can be difficult for many. All students are encouraged to check that out.

If you encounter a suspected emergency situation with any student during this time, crisis support is available by calling CCS at 614-292-5766. If this happens with the student remotely located, please try to get as much contact information about the student such as name, phone number, OSU dot #, and address where they are currently located. If you suspect safety is at risk or compromised at that time for the student or anyone they are with, please call 9-1-1. They will help immediately regardless of where the student is physically located. After you have done one of the steps above, please let me know of the situation so that follow up contact attempts can be made with the student. Please make sure to provide me with the best way to reach you right now too.

In today’s world, employers seek evidence of career-relevant skills and competencies beyond listings on a resume. Students at all levels can easily create evidence-based credentials. In other words, attaching documents, videos, audio files, graphics, coding samples and presentations help demonstrate your knowledge and abilities.
