ACADEMIC DATES & INFO

  1. ASGSA hosted a Young Professionals Night on November 9th. There were guest speakers from industry, academia, and vet-med.

CAMPUS NEWS & EVENTS

  1. The Ohio State Poultry Judging Team recently competed in the 55th National Collegiate Poultry Judging Contest, hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on November 1st & 2nd, 2021.

  2. From December 1st-16th, ASGSA will be holding a Holiday Food drive. They are requesting granola bars or crackers (individual packages), fruit snacks/fruit bars, canned beans/fruit, boxed instant meals, peanut butter, rice, and soup. All items should be non-perishable

  3. The Intercollegiate Animal Welfare Judging/Assessment Contest (AWJAC) virtually celebrated its 21st year of competition on November 20th and 21st.

INTERNSHIP & PART-TIME ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. North Carolina State University is now accepting applications for the 2022 cohort of the "Pigs, Poultry, the Planet, and Data-Driven Problem Solving" (nicknamed "P4") Research and Extension Experience for Undergraduates summer program, which is funded through the USDA and a collaborative effort

  2. The Ohio State Swine Center at Don Scott is currently hiring! They need employees ASAP, so if you are interested, email Bailey Ward at ward.1399@osu.edu

  3. ST Genetics has a few position openings in their calf care department. They have multiple full and part time positions.

  4. Philbro Animal Health Corporation has opened their Summer internship application. A description of what they are looking for in a candidate and a job description is attatched.

FULL-TIME JOB ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Land O' Lakes/Purina has position openings on theirIncome Operations team.

  2. Dr. Lisa Bielke is looking to hire a full-time lab technician in Wooster. She is searching for an undergraduate student and is in support of graduate education pursuit while working with her. 

  3. The National Turkey Federation is looking for a recent graduate to fill a position on their team. Ideally the candidate would be a December 2021 graduate or a May 2021 graduate.

  4. The Tifton Bull Evaluation Center at the University of Georgia has a Bull Test Manager position opening in Irwinville (south central Georgia). A BS is preffered, but they will consider a combination of education and experience.
