CAMPUS NEWS & EVENTS

  1. Registration for the 2019 Russell Klein Nutrition Research Symposium is officially open! This year’s symposium will be held on April 18th 2019 from 8am-5pm at the Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center.

  2. Test your knowledge in Animal Science! Compete against your peers with team members that you select for a chance to represent Ohio State at the Midwestern Section American Society of Animal Science Meetings.

  3. Our February BIYC event will be on Wednesday, Feb.

INTERNSHIP & PART-TIME ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Full and Part Time Positions Available Immediatley at Trueman Farms. Starting pay is $12/13 per hour. This is an excellent opportunity to gain a well rounded equine experience at a privately owned and operated small horse farm located 20 minutes from campus close to Dublin/HIlliard area.

  2. The Harness Horse Youth Foundation is seeking an assistant/instructor to travel during the months of late May, June, July and part of August. Person must be great with kids, capable of driving a truck/6-horse trailer, and self motivated! Harness racing background helpful but not required.

  3. Stauffer Farms LLC is a 3800 cow dairy in northern St. Lawrence county NY.  They raise replacements and crop 3700 acres of corn silage and haylage.  The dairy facilities are modern, constructed over the span of 2009-2018. Wet calves are raised in a combination of calf barn and hutches.

  4. There is a graduate research assistantship (M.S. in Animal Sciences) position opening at Purdue University. The position will study student motivation and curiosity in large enrollment introductory STEM-based courses beginning in August 2019. In addition to research, the M.S.

  5. Safari Adventures (Kalahari in Sandusky, OH) and The Watering Hole at Monsoon Lagoon (Port Clinton, OH) offer a 12-15 week Summer Internship program.

  6. The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute (OSU/ATI) is 2 year technical school located in Wooster, Ohio.  The OSU/ATI Dairy Farm is 100 cow Holstein and Jersey herd that exist to provide practical experience to students during the Fall and Spring semesters.  The OSU/ATI Dairy

  7. Heimerl Farms is a highly dedicated family run farming operation located 20 minutes northeast of Columbus in Johnstown, Ohio. Johnstown is home to not only their main office, but also the farm which started their swine enterprise many years ago.

  8. The American Dairy Association is looking for a communications intern. The intern will gain experience working in an association setting and utilizing communication skills such as writing, editing, graphic design, photography and social media.

  9. This internship will be from May 20th, 2019 through August 2nd, 2019. This year is going to be very competitive, so keep that in mind while filling out the application.

FULL-TIME JOB ANNOUNCEMENTS

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

  1. The Ohio Holstein Women’s Scholarship is dedicated to the Encouragement of deserving and qualified persons with a high school degree and with a dairy background to obtain an Associates, Bachelor’s or Masters Degree, or to start-up and continue in the dairy business.

  2. The Targeting Excellence Scholarship opportunities for Undergraduate and Graduate Students will be open February 1 to March 1, 2019.  Ohio has been a very active state, funding over $40,000 annually to support students. Check out these awesome scholarship opportunities!

STUDY ABROAD INFORMATION

  1. The Center for Latin American Studies at Ohio State is seeking undergraduate applications for their Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship program.

LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT

  1. Alpha Zeta Partners (AZP) has opened its application. 

  2. AMSA is excited to once again partner with Tyson Foods to host the 3rd Annual Beyond Fresh Meats Short Course in Springdale, AR.

  3. HOSA-Future Health Professionals at The Ohio State University is a great way for students to network and compete internationally in their chosen field of study.  HOSA is an established international organization that empowers students through leadership in the global health community.

  4. The Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) launched the Infectious Diseases Student Community of Practice and Engagement (ID SCOPE) in partnership with the Battelle Center for Science, Engineering, and Public Policy, a center within the Glenn College.

  5. Shades Club is always looking to recruit new members! The purpose of Shades of Animal Sciences is to provide networking opportunities for multicultural students with a wide variety of interests, while focusing mainly on animals through education and service.

  6. Do you enjoy sharing your passion for Ohio State with others? Would you be willing to show high school students what it is like to be a Buckeye? The "Experience OSU for a Day" (EOFD) Program allows prospective students to get a feel for what college is really like.

  7. At A.P.E.S. (American Primate Educational Sanctuary) volunteers take on a role similar to that of a keeper in a zoo. They clean the cages, prepare meals, do dishes, prepare enrichment, and other upkeep that may need done.

  8. The Mid-Ohio Foodbank is hoping to share some of their volunteer opportunities with students and faculty. They have a variety of projects available and would love some new volunteers!
