CAMPUS NEWS & EVENTS

  1. The Ohio State Poultry Judging Team recently competed in the 55th National Collegiate Poultry Judging Contest, hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on November 1st & 2nd, 2021.

INTERNSHIP & PART-TIME ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. The application for the Historic Trades Summer Internship is now open! This internship provides an opportunity for undergraduate students to become immersed in 18th-century history, agriculture, and industry.

  2. Whitestone Farm LLC has available positions for 2022!

  3. Hanover Shoe Farm is a large Standardbred breeding farm located in Hanover Pennsylvania. They are seeking interns for the 2022 breeding season (January-July 2022).

  4. North Carolina State University is now accepting applications for the 2022 cohort of the "Pigs, Poultry, the Planet, and Data-Driven Problem Solving" (nicknamed "P4") Research and Extension Experience for Undergraduates summer program, which is funded through the USDA and a collaborative effort

  5. The Ohio State Swine Center at Don Scott is currently hiring! They need employees ASAP, so if you are interested, email Bailey Ward at ward.1399@osu.edu

  6. ST Genetics has a few position openings in their calf care department. They have multiple full and part time positions.

FULL-TIME JOB ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. The Department of Animal and Poultry Sciences at Virginia Tech is seeking an Agricultural Specialist to oversee all activities in their current swine unit and prepare for its re-location to new facilitates (currently under construction).

  3. Dr. Lisa Bielke is looking to hire a full-time lab technician in Wooster. She is searching for an undergraduate student and is in support of graduate education pursuit while working with her. 

RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES

  1. There are research positions available to undergraduate students who are interested in research in the Department of Animal Sciences.  Applicants must commit to full-time research over a 10 week period during summer 2022 and participate in the CFAES Undergraduate Research Forum spring semester

  2. The USDA-funded Rainfed Agriculture Innovation Network (RAIN) project will host a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program in the summer of 2022 . RAIN REU participants will contribute to collaborative, interdisciplinary research projects relating to rainfed agricultural production

STUDY ABROAD INFORMATION

  1. On Thursday, January 13th, there will be an information session about Summer 2022 study abroad programs. It will be held virtually from 3-4 pm. You can register here!

LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT

  1. All first-year students looking to live on the Columbus campus during the 2022-2023 year should consider applying to live in a living-learning community. Learning Communities are groups of students who live together on a residence hall floor with common majors, career, or personal interests.

  2. Applications to the 116th class of the Sphinx Senior Class Honorary are now live!

  3. Participants in the ELEVATE Leader Development Program hone their decision-making, communication, emotional intelligence, and more through a cutting-edge leadership research study at Ohio State.

  4. Nominations are now open for the 2022 CFAES Student and Spirit Awards. The four categories of awards include CFAES Student Awards, CFAES Service to Students Awards, CFAES Student Organization Awards, and CFAES Spirit of the Land Grant Award. Nominations are due February 15, 2022.

  5. Are you getting ready for Vet School interviews or wonder what you will need to prepare for in the future? This workshop will go through key skills to focus on, common questions, and ways to prepare. It will take place via zoom on January 18th at 5:30 pm.

  6. Interested in helping to connect new students to OSU and CFAES?

  7. Do you enjoy sharing your passion for Ohio State with others? Would you be willing to show high school students what it's like to be a Buckeye? The "Experience Ohio State for a Day" (EOFD) Program allows prospective students to get a feel for what college is really like.
