NEWS & EVENTS

  1. Interested in the swine industry? No experience? No problem! Dr. Pairis-Garcia is looking for undergraduate students interested in learning more about career opportunities in swine and connecting students with producers in the state of Ohio.

  2. The Pre-Veterinary Medical Association will be hosting Annie Abraham, clinical therapist, at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, on January 17th from 7-8pm in the VMCA.

  3. The first Animal Welfare & Behavior Club meeting of the semester is January 17th at 5:30 in Enarson 238! Wild Hearts Zoo will be coming to speak about exotic animal welfare and will be bringing some small exotics with them, such as an owl, hedgehog, frog, etc!

  4. All Animal Science Students/all CFAES Students are invited to attend Omega Tau Sigma's Etiquette Dinner. OTS is a nationally recognized veterinary fraternity that encourages and fosters the development of well rounded veterinarians.

  5. The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences is calling for abstracts for the CFAES Undergraduate Research Forum, scheduled for Thursday, March 1, 2018, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, in the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center.

  6. Do you want to get to know your professors better outside the classroom? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to play a competitive game with your professors in animal science? Not to mention… FREE ADRIATICOS!

  7. Do you enjoy sharing your passion for Ohio State with others? Would you be willing to show high school students what it is like to be a Buckeye? The "Experience OSU for a Day" (EOFD) Program allows prospective students to get a feel for what college is really like.

LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT

  1. Are you interested in learning more about an area of food and agriculture? Would you like to build a larger network within the industry and with other students nationwide? Then you should apply for an AFA Leader Institute! AFA has a broad range of programs, including:

  2. Are you interested in applying to be an Ambassador for the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES)? CFAES Ambassadors are a team of undergraduate students selected to represent the college to prospective students and guests, alumni, and donors.

  3. American Primate Educational Sanctuary (A.P.E.S.) is looking for students that desire the experience of working closely with primates in their care, feeding, and enrichment exercises. Volunteering with A.P.E.S.

  4. CFAES Outstanding Senior Award Applications are now available!

  5. Attention Students! Do you have riding experience and are you interested in learning how to start a horse under saddle? Then, AS2401 Advanced Behavior and Training might be the class for you.

  6. Are you a first year commuter student interested in making new friends? The commuter mentoring program is offered to first year commuter students and helps them engage more with campus activities and have an overall better experience at OSU.

STUDY ABROAD INFORMATION

  1. Funding is available to students studying in animal sciences or a related discipline to conduct research with faculty located in Columbus and at the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center in Wooster, Ohio.

INTERNSHIP & PART-TIME ANNOUNCEMENTS

The OSU/ATI Dairy Farm has internship opportunities available at the farm outside Wooster, Ohio. The internship will be available from May through August and would be most suitable for those completing their Freshmen and Sophomore years. The internship will focus on the day to day application of

  11. Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) is looking for a summer commercial dairy intern. The intern will be assigned a sales mentor that they will ride with to become acclimated to the sales climate.
