ACADEMIC DATES & INFO

  1. Interested in attending the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine via the FEEPASS Program? There will be an in-person Q&A session with representatives from the Glasgow on March 7th 10-11:00am in 212 Animal Science.

CAMPUS NEWS & EVENTS

  1. The Ohio State Poultry Judging Team recently competed in the 55th National Collegiate Poultry Judging Contest, hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on November 1st & 2nd, 2021.

INTERNSHIP & PART-TIME ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Looking for an internship now or maybe even a part-time or full-time position? Great Pets is currently hiring. This is a private breeding facility of budgies, cockatiels, and guinea pigs, located in Alexandria, OH (about 40-min from campus). If interested, please contact Dr.

  2. How would you like to spend your summer working with youth in 4-H? This internship will allow you to work alongside Animal Sciences and Ohio 4-H to carry out livestock events both before and during the Ohio State Fair.

  5. The application for the Historic Trades Summer Internship is now open! This internship provides an opportunity for undergraduate students to become immersed in 18th-century history, agriculture, and industry.

  6. Whitestone Farm LLC has available positions for 2022!

  7. Hanover Shoe Farm is a large Standardbred breeding farm located in Hanover Pennsylvania. They are seeking interns for the 2022 breeding season (January-July 2022).

  8. North Carolina State University is now accepting applications for the 2022 cohort of the "Pigs, Poultry, the Planet, and Data-Driven Problem Solving" (nicknamed "P4") Research and Extension Experience for Undergraduates summer program, which is funded through the USDA and a collaborative effort

RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES

  1. There are research positions available to undergraduate students who are interested in research in the Department of Animal Sciences.  Applicants must commit to full-time research over a 10 week period during summer 2022 and participate in the CFAES Undergraduate Research Forum spring semester

  2. The USDA-funded Rainfed Agriculture Innovation Network (RAIN) project will host a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program in the summer of 2022 . RAIN REU participants will contribute to collaborative, interdisciplinary research projects relating to rainfed agricultural production

LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT

  1. Amplify Horse Racing, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit promoting education and careers in the Thoroughbred industry to youth and young adults, has reopened their mentorship program application for 2022.

  2. All first-year students looking to live on the Columbus campus during the 2022-2023 year should consider applying to live in a living-learning community. Learning Communities are groups of students who live together on a residence hall floor with common majors, career, or personal interests.

  3. Applications to the 116th class of the Sphinx Senior Class Honorary are now live!

  4. Participants in the ELEVATE Leader Development Program hone their decision-making, communication, emotional intelligence, and more through a cutting-edge leadership research study at Ohio State.

  5. Nominations are now open for the 2022 CFAES Student and Spirit Awards. The four categories of awards include CFAES Student Awards, CFAES Service to Students Awards, CFAES Student Organization Awards, and CFAES Spirit of the Land Grant Award. Nominations are due February 15, 2022.

  6. Are you getting ready for Vet School interviews or wonder what you will need to prepare for in the future? This workshop will go through key skills to focus on, common questions, and ways to prepare. It will take place via zoom on January 18th at 5:30 pm.

  7. Interested in helping to connect new students to OSU and CFAES?

  8. Do you enjoy sharing your passion for Ohio State with others? Would you be willing to show high school students what it's like to be a Buckeye? The "Experience Ohio State for a Day" (EOFD) Program allows prospective students to get a feel for what college is really like.
