North Carolina State University is now accepting applications for the 2022 cohort of the "Pigs, Poultry, the Planet, and Data-Driven Problem Solving" (nicknamed "P4") Research and Extension Experience for Undergraduates summer program, which is funded through the USDA and a collaborative effort between North Carolina State University and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. As part of the program, students will gain foundational coding skills, work on a data-intensive research project, prepare science communication products, network with professionals working in food animal production, and travel to Italy for one week (airfare, lodging, and transportation covered by program) to learn about international production systems. A $5,000 stipend and on-campus housing are provided to program participants, as well as travel expenses to Italy. You can learn more here.
Applications are due Friday, February 11th by 5:00 PM! Only undergraduate students who will still be enrolled in their undergraduate programs through summer 2022 are eligible to apply. Students who will have graduated prior to May 2022 are not eligible to participate. All applicants must have prior background in statistics (e.g., completion of one or more statistics courses) and be U.S. citizens. More details on eligibility are included on the webpage linked above.
