CAMPUS NEWS & EVENTS

  1. The Veterinary Public Health Program is hosting an informational Pizza Night for undergraduate students interested in careers in veterinary sciences.

INTERNSHIP & PART-TIME ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. There is a graduate research assistantship (M.S. in Animal Sciences) position opening at Purdue University. The position will study student motivation and curiosity in large enrollment introductory STEM-based courses beginning in August 2019. In addition to research, the M.S.

  2. Safari Adventures (Kalahari in Sandusky, OH) and The Watering Hole at Monsoon Lagoon (Port Clinton, OH) offer a 12-15 week Summer Internship program.

  3. The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute (OSU/ATI) is 2 year technical school located in Wooster, Ohio.  The OSU/ATI Dairy Farm is 100 cow Holstein and Jersey herd that exist to provide practical experience to students during the Fall and Spring semesters.  The OSU/ATI Dairy

  4. The William H Miner Agricultural Research Institute has three different internship opportunites.

  5. Heimerl Farms is a highly dedicated family run farming operation located 20 minutes northeast of Columbus in Johnstown, Ohio. Johnstown is home to not only their main office, but also the farm which started their swine enterprise many years ago.

  6. The SugarCreek Internship Program is a 12-week program starting the third week of May through the first week of August. In addition to your “day job”, each intern will be part of a group focusing on an innovations for the entire company .

  7. Topigs Norsvin is a global swine genetics company (www.topigsnorsvin.com) headquartered in Norway and the Netherlands with a US division located in Burnsville, MN.

  8. The American Dairy Association is looking for a communications intern. The intern will gain experience working in an association setting and utilizing communication skills such as writing, editing, graphic design, photography and social media.

  9. Applications are now available for college-age students to apply for the American Angus Association®, Angus Media, Angus Genetics Inc. (AGI), and Angus Foundation 2019 summer internships. These 10-week, paid internships provide hands-on opportunities in the Angus business.

  10. Colebelle Farm is a diversified operation focusing on a 120 cow dairy, 2 turkey houses, and roughly 400 acres of crops. Located in Augusta County just minutes off interstate 81 in Spottswood, Virginia, Kyle Leonard operates Colebelle Farm along with 3 employees.

  11. Looking for a job this spring? We are searching for a few motivated students to work in the Parker Dairy Store. Hours are flexible, approximately 10 hours per week, $9.00 per hour between the hours of 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

  12. Windy Ridge Jerseys is seeking a summer intern for 2019. Duties would include, but are not limited to, assisting with morning milking chores, some evening milking chores, heifer and calf management, mixing total mixed ration for lactating herd, breeding, and herd health.

  13. The Center for Slavic and East European Studies at The Ohio State University is seeking applications for its 2019-20 Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship competition under the U.S. Department of Education’s Title VI Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship program.

RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES

  1. Research positions are available for undergraduate students who are interested in research in the Department of Animal Sciences.  Applicants must commit to full-time research over a 10 week period during summer 2019 and participate in the CFAES Undergraduate Research Forum spring semester 2020

LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT

  1. Alpha Zeta Partners (AZP) has opened its application. 

  2. AMSA is excited to once again partner with Tyson Foods to host the 3rd Annual Beyond Fresh Meats Short Course in Springdale, AR.

  3. HOSA-Future Health Professionals at The Ohio State University is a great way for students to network and compete internationally in their chosen field of study.  HOSA is an established international organization that empowers students through leadership in the global health community.

  4. The Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) launched the Infectious Diseases Student Community of Practice and Engagement (ID SCOPE) in partnership with the Battelle Center for Science, Engineering, and Public Policy, a center within the Glenn College.

  5. Shades Club is always looking to recruit new members! The purpose of Shades of Animal Sciences is to provide networking opportunities for multicultural students with a wide variety of interests, while focusing mainly on animals through education and service.

  8. At A.P.E.S. (American Primate Educational Sanctuary) volunteers take on a role similar to that of a keeper in a zoo. They clean the cages, prepare meals, do dishes, prepare enrichment, and other upkeep that may need done.
