CAMPUS NEWS & EVENTS

  1. The Ohio Veterinary Medical Association is pleased to host the 2018 Veterinary Exploration Conference and College Fair on Saturday, February 24th! This will be a great opportunity for students to gain exposure to careers they may not know exist.

  2. Do you want to get to know your professors better outside the classroom? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to play a competitive game with your professors in animal science? Not to mention… FREE ADRIATICOS!

  3. Many of you have heard that we lost one of our own over winter break, Caroline “Grace" Cotter.

  4. Do you enjoy sharing your passion for Ohio State with others? Would you be willing to show high school students what it is like to be a Buckeye? The "Experience OSU for a Day" (EOFD) Program allows prospective students to get a feel for what college is really like.

  5. Help with a research project and get an Amazon gift card? Sign me up!

  6. Attention women in agriculture programs! 

  7. There is a Shorthorn Plus Steer club calf for sale. The calf was born on February 7, 2017. For pictures and more information, please see the attachment or call 614-282-1154.

  8. Buckeye Parasitology Club is accepting new members! This club includes undergraduates, graduate and professional students. Anyone with an interest in parasites (veterinary or human) is welcome to join.

INTERNSHIP & PART-TIME ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Various internship opportunities are available with The William H. Miner Agricultural Research Institute.

  2. A barn management internship position is available. The company is looking for equestrian students of any and all disciplines. Applicants must have good work ethic, be able to work on a schedule, and have reliable transportation.

  3. The College of Veterinary Medicine currently has one Veterinary Assistant opening on their Columbus campus with Small Animal and Large Animal teams—with an emphasis on the Large Animal teams. They are looking for qualified candidates with experience handling farm animals and equine.

  4. Zoetis is a global animal health company dedicated to supporting customers and their businesses in ever better ways.

  5. The U.S. Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC), located in Clay Center, Nebraska, will be sponsoring a 2018 Summer Research Internship Program for undergraduate students.

  6. Applications are now being accepted for the Vita Plus Dairy Nutrition and Management Fellowship.  
  7. COBA/Select Sires is seeking a Communications/Marketing intern for the summer of 2018.

  8. Hagyard is currently accepting applications for the Hagyard Veterinary Assistant Internship program.

  9. Tyson R&D Foods is accepting applications to fill 7 internship postions for summer 2018. This internship will provide hands-on experiences and allow individuals to gain mentorship from highly experiences industry professionals.

  10. Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) is looking for a summer commercial dairy intern. The intern will be assigned a sales mentor that they will ride with to become acclimated to the sales climate.

  11. Sitz Angus is looking for two types of interns: ranch and farm. 

  12. Cargill Animal Nutrition provides customized animal productivity solutions to commercial producers across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Rather than focusing on standardized nutrition products, they create customized ingredient blends and management programs to fit each situation.

  13. Fort Christopher’s Thoroughbreds, LLC is a modern, thoroughbred facility located just 15 minutes from historic Saratoga Racecourse. They are currently accepting applications for multiple seasonal internship opportunities including:

  9. The Department of Animal Science under the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking candidates for a Program Coordinator III – Dairy Farm Manager.

RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES

  1. Funding is available to students studying in animal sciences or a related discipline to conduct research with faculty located in Columbus and at the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center in Wooster, Ohio.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

  1. Study.com is excited to share a new scholarship offered to female students pursuing an undergraduate degree in science, biology, physical science, social science, chemistry, or physics. Study.com hopes to promote both educational opportunities and achievement for women in science.

  1. American Primate Educational Sanctuary (A.P.E.S.) is looking for students that desire the experience of working closely with primates in their care, feeding, and enrichment exercises. Volunteering with A.P.E.S.

  2. CFAES Outstanding Senior Award Applications are now available!

  3. Attention Students! Do you have riding experience and are you interested in learning how to start a horse under saddle? Then, AS2401 Advanced Behavior and Training might be the class for you.

  4. Are you a first year commuter student interested in making new friends? The commuter mentoring program is offered to first year commuter students and helps them engage more with campus activities and have an overall better experience at OSU.
