    Equine Operations Assistant – Immediate Opening 
    -Utilize Horse Farm Management database and tablet software for horse health record upkeep including entering treatment sheets and any notes from veterinary procedures

Ticket sales will be for the 37th running of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, Thoroughbred horseracing’s year-end Championships! This position will run mid-January through March 2020.   4. National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame

    FACILITIES MANAGER


    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES 
    Overview - This position is for a full-time exempt employee who will be responsible for the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame’s 46,000 square foot facility and reports to the Director on major building issues while supporting all Museum departments. The Facilities Manager plays a central role facilitating necessary communication among all staff members regarding daily operation and any departmental events or project needs. This position includes overseeing the museum building maintenance, repair, alterations, utility operations, fire/security and building services including audio/visual, communications and elevator. The position involves coordinating and supporting a variety of museum operating activities including set up and alteration of spaces for Museum exhibitions and retail store operations, special events and fundraisers and museum rentals.

     
    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES 
    * Supervise and schedule all maintenance staff for daily operations, special events and facility rentals. 
    Conduct interviews and hire maintenance staff as needed 
    * Perform and supervise cleaning and maintaining of the facility, including exhibit galleries, conference room, restrooms, public areas and parking lots. 
    * Basic painting, plumbing, and carpentry. 
    * Manage the Mahoney Fire and Alarm System for the Museum, including reporting when the alarm signals. 

    Monitor and maintain the camera security system. 
    * Set up and break down for all Museum special events, including planning as needed. 
    * Operate floor scrubber and carpet cleaner. 
    * Maintain exterior cleanliness and landscaping. 
    * Snow removal and salting of walks. 
    * Work with the Curator on exhibit installation, interactive displays and construction. 
    * Monitor HVAC controls for the Museum and its collections. 
    * Conduct daily inspections of facility spaces to ensure high standards of appearance and readiness are maintained. 
    * Respond to all building system failures. Diagnose their cause and supervise all activities required to restore proper operation. 
    * Coordinate and work with outside vendors 
    *Manage all vendor contracts associated with structure maintenance and operations, including custodial, fire detection and protection, elevators, HVAC, security, audio/visual, electrical, and mechanical. 
    * Plan for and supervise building structure and service systems repair, alteration, and upgrade projects. 
    * Manage the inventory of supplies required by building maintenance and operating activities. 
    * Coordinate with other Museum staff to minimize the impact of building maintenance and operations activities upon Museum functions. 
    * Assist in exhibit changes and installation as needed: patching and painting of walls; assembly and movement of display racks, pedestals and supports. 
    * Manage daily opening and closing of the building among the Maintenance staff including a daily schedule for turning gallery interactives on before the Museum opens and turning them off when the Museum closes. 
    * Other duties as assigned. 


    QUALIFICATIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS 
    • Minimum 5 years experience in Facility management, building operations, managing others or similar relevant experience. 
    • Requires high school diploma. 
    • Must be flexible to work long or unusual hours, including holidays and weekends. 
    • Must be able to climb stairs or ladder. 
    • Ability to respond quickly to urgent security, building service and utility failures. 
    • Physical dexterity required to access remote spaces (roof, ceiling crawl spaces, etc.) as well as ability to lift fifty pounds and move items of various weights and sizes 
    • Familiarity with computer-based project management systems and/or willing to learn 
    • Experience with plumbing, electric, carpentry preferred 
    • Interest in the visual arts and museum environments. 
    • Strong collaborative attitude and attention to detail. 
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently and organize effectively 
    • Excellent listening skills and ability to consider ideas of others 
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  5. Mill Ridge Farm

    Equine and Sales Representative

    JOB SUMMARY: 
    The Equine and Sales Coordinator is responsible for day-to-day administration of the sales business as well as the on-farm and off-farm bloodstock. This role has two distinct seasons. During Breeding Season, this position will book in-bound and out-bound mares, as well as provide supporting communication to management, farms, and clients. With the Sales Season, this position will focus on recruitment, execution, and management of the Mill Ridge Sales consignment. Throughout the year, this position is also responsible for on-going horse administration in Horse Farm Management.

    JOB DETAILS:

    BREEDING SEASON 
    • Book on-farm broodmares to stallions, including scheduling vanning 
    • Book off-farm broodmares to on-farm stallions 
    • Record and maintain records on all breeding activity both on and off farm 
    • Obtain, record, and maintain records on all foaling activity 
    • Generate and distribute all related reports

    SALES 
    • Assist with auction recruitment 
    • Manage and administrate sales consignment 
    • Assist with sales targeting of individual horses 
    • Assist team with prep strategy and execution 
    • Various sale related responsibilities during season

    ON-GOING 
    • Maintain health and registration records for all bloodstock 
    • Record horse arrivals and departures 
    • Prepare lists for blacksmith, vaccinations, and other routine procedures 
    • Input procedures as needed 
    • Monitor and oversee health tablet check in from farm employees 
    • Transmit vet procedures to Hagyard Equine Medical 
    • Complete all nominations and registrations 
    • Maintain inventory and pricing for drugs, procedures, and supplies 
    • Serve as liaison with bloodstock insurance agencies 
    • Assist with review of monthly billing 
    • Prepare, assist with and send client reports

    QUALIFICATIONS: 
    - Background in the thoroughbred industry 
    - Horse Farm Management 
    - Strong verbal and written communication skills 
    - Excel, Word and Outlook 
    - Highly organized

  6. Certified Angus Beef Scholarship

    Each year the Certified Angus Beef ® brand gives $33,500 in scholarships to college students demonstrating commitment to the beef community. 

    Applications are due January 17 and winners will be named by March 2020. There's one graduate scholarship and five undergraduate awards. These are hefty scholarships that will make a significant difference to the students who receive them.

  7. College Scholarships

    All students in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences are encouraged to fill out the College Scholarship Application for the 2020-21 academic year. You will only need to fill out one application to be eligible for scholarships from the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, School of Environment and Natural Resources, and ATI/Wooster. The priority deadline for completing the application is February 15, 2020.

    The on-line form requires you to write a short 300 word essay, list of present and previous work experience, involvement in extracurricular activities, and provide details about involvement in groups. Students in the School of Environment and Natural Resources will only need to complete this application for 2020-21 as the supplemental questions are within this application. Applicants who have participated in 4-H regardless of University/College, Campus, or major are to complete this application and the additional supplemental questions when you check “Yes” on the involvement in 4-H.
