CAMPUS NEWS & EVENTS

  1. On March 20th from 6:30-7:45pm in Animal Science 111, the Meat Judging Team and Meat Science Club will offer another evening program of Buckeyes In Your Corner.

  2. OSU's Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow are proud to host the 6th annual Lindsay Hill Memorial Tournament. The event will be held in the RPAC on March 23rd starting at 11. Teams will play a 3 on 3 game with one sub available for a 20 minute running clock.

  3. CHAIRE is holding a goat yoga event on March 21st  from 5:30pm-6:30pm or 7:00pm-8:00pm for students, faculty and staff in the Animal Science Building Arena! The cost for students is $10 and the cost for faculty/staff is $20.

INTERNSHIP & PART-TIME ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. DuBois Center, a faith-based camp and retreat center in southern Illinois, is seeking an enthusiastic team player to serve as Barn Coordinator for their summer horseback riding program.

  2. Dreams on Horseback, a horse-partnered learning center in Blacklick, Ohio, is looking for unpaid summer interns to assist with programs, provide horse care, and co-lead camp activities.

  3. Precision livestock production is defined as optimizing agricultural inputs to produce desired outputs in the livestock industry.

  4. There are internship and job opportunities available at Waterman Dairy Farm for the summer of 2019. The OSU Waterman Dairy milks 100 registered Jerseys and raises approximately 165 replacement heifers.

  5. The Harness Horse Youth Foundation is seeking an assistant/instructor to travel during the months of late May, June, July and part of August. Person must be great with kids, capable of driving a truck/6-horse trailer, and self motivated! Harness racing background helpful but not required.

  6. Stauffer Farms LLC is a 3800 cow dairy in northern St. Lawrence county NY.  They raise replacements and crop 3700 acres of corn silage and haylage.  The dairy facilities are modern, constructed over the span of 2009-2018. Wet calves are raised in a combination of calf barn and hutches.

  7. The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute (OSU/ATI) is 2 year technical school located in Wooster, Ohio.  The OSU/ATI Dairy Farm is 100 cow Holstein and Jersey herd that exist to provide practical experience to students during the Fall and Spring semesters.  The OSU/ATI Dairy

  8. Heimerl Farms is a highly dedicated family run farming operation located 20 minutes northeast of Columbus in Johnstown, Ohio. Johnstown is home to not only their main office, but also the farm which started their swine enterprise many years ago.

  9. This internship will be from May 20th, 2019 through August 2nd, 2019. This year is going to be very competitive, so keep that in mind while filling out the application.

FULL-TIME JOB ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. The Pork Checkoff sponsors a scholarship program available to college students who are current juniors or seniors planning to pursue a career field related to swine production.

  2. The Roy A. Wallace BIF Memorial Fund was established to honor the life and career of Roy A. Wallace. Mr. Wallace worked for Select Sires for 40 years, serving as vice-president of beef programs and devoted his life to beef-cattle improvement.

  1. The Center for Latin American Studies at Ohio State is seeking undergraduate applications for their Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship program.

LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT

  1. The Animal Science Community Alliance (ASCA) is an undergraduate leadership team involved in the recruitment of high school students, peer mentorship through the ANIM SCI 2700 course and the Cristo Rey Columbus HS Science Club, and planning and implementation of retention and community-building

  2. HOSA-Future Health Professionals at The Ohio State University is a great way for students to network and compete internationally in their chosen field of study.  HOSA is an established international organization that empowers students through leadership in the global health community.

  3. The Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) launched the Infectious Diseases Student Community of Practice and Engagement (ID SCOPE) in partnership with the Battelle Center for Science, Engineering, and Public Policy, a center within the Glenn College.

  4. Shades Club is always looking to recruit new members! The purpose of Shades of Animal Sciences is to provide networking opportunities for multicultural students with a wide variety of interests, while focusing mainly on animals through education and service.

  5. Do you enjoy sharing your passion for Ohio State with others? Would you be willing to show high school students what it is like to be a Buckeye? The "Experience OSU for a Day" (EOFD) Program allows prospective students to get a feel for what college is really like.

  6. At A.P.E.S. (American Primate Educational Sanctuary) volunteers take on a role similar to that of a keeper in a zoo. They clean the cages, prepare meals, do dishes, prepare enrichment, and other upkeep that may need done.

  7. The Mid-Ohio Foodbank is hoping to share some of their volunteer opportunities with students and faculty. They have a variety of projects available and would love some new volunteers!
