ACADEMIC DATES & INFO

  1. ANIMSCI 3301 Equine Selection & Evaluation? No judging experience is required. The course is offered T/R in Plumb Hall 102 from 8:50-10:55 am. It is a two credit hour lab.The course offers hands on experience judging halter and almost every performance class there is.

  1. Mental Health is very important to PVMA, and in an effort to better the mental health of PVMA we will be instituting a mental health community called SHIFT. SHIFT is a group that comes together to talk about any issues we may be facing such as, stress, anxiety, depression etc.

    CFAES is inviting you to attend the Undergraduate Research Forum. This event will take place March 24th from 1:00-3:00 in the 4-H Center.  

  3. The Human-Animal Interactions Club is hosting Goat Yoga on Thursday March 26 from 5:30-6:30pm or 7:00-8:00pm in collaboration with Harrison Farm. Preregistration is required and can be completed by clicking below.

  4. Join a panel of specialists as they discuss the roles that marketing and operations management play in human animal interactions. The event will be held March 19th at 6:00 pm in the Fisher College.

INTERNSHIP & PART-TIME ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. The OSU/ATI Dairy Farm has internship opportunities available at the farm outside Wooster, Ohio.  The internship will focus on the day to day application of management practices and the intern will rotate between four different jobs: Feeding, Milking, Calf and Heifer Raising, and Health and

  5. Dreams on Horseback, a horse-partnered learning center in Blacklick, Ohio, is looking for unpaid summer interns to assist with programs, provide horse care, and co-lead camp activities.

  6. The National Turkey Federation is currently accepting internship applications for the Summer 2020 semester in our Washington, D.C. office. They are seeking a recent graduate or a currently enrolled senior/ junior with a desire to learn about and advocate for the turkey industry

  7. Clintonville Animal Hospital is currently looking for a full-time or part-time Licensed Veterinary Technician or someone currently in an accredited Veterinary Technician Program to join the team of professional and fun individuals.

  8. Ayrshire Breeders' Association office in Columbus, OH is looking for an intern. The internship will be full-time and last 10-12 weeks. The compenstation is hourly and you must provide your own transportation and housing.

GRADUATE SCHOOL OPPORTUNITIES

  1. The Department of Animal Sciences at Colorado State University is seeking a Master’s Graduate Assistant starting in Summer 2020 in the area of dairy calf health, behavior, and management. The MS program will include both research and teaching.

FULL-TIME JOB ANNOUNCEMENTS

  2. The Ferguson Family Dairy Farm is looking for a Senior Dairy Herd Manager through Oklahoma State University. The preference is someone with an M.S. but is not required. 

  3. EarthClaims, LLC is currently hiring a contract auditor(s) to perform animal welfare auditing. Someone in Iowa or Nebraska is preferred, but mid-west is also fine. These positions are completely home-based which offers plenty of flexibility so long as you're willing to travel.

There is now a position opening as a Beef Cattle Field Specialist. The individual in this position has the responsibility of developing and stewarding a tripartite partnership between Department of Animal Sciences, field-based Extension professionals, and representatives of the beef industry to

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

  1. The application period for the National Dairy Promotion and Research Board (NDPRB) scholarship is now open!  New this year, students will be expected to fill out an on-line application.  A link to the scholarship application can be found

  2. The Stark County Dairy Promoters Scholarship Fund based with the Stark Community Foundation, Canton, Ohio, has helped students since 1990. This year students will be vying for scholarships up to $5,000.
