ACADEMIC DATES & INFO

  1. Two graduate research assistantships (M.S. or PhD in Animal and Food Sciences) will be available in June or August 2016 with a focus on using Precision Dairy Technologies monitoring animal behavior for detection of dairy cattle transition cow disorders.

  2. The Hamilton Lab in the Department Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology is interested in seeking 4-5 motivated volunteers interested in gaining experience in research in animal behavior. The Hamilton Lab studies the evolution of social behavior in cichlid fish.

  1. Shades of Animal Science is an organization that networks students with faculty members and career professionals in the several areas of animal sciences. They participate in several hands-on activities throughout the year with animals such as cattle, primates, big cats, and rabbits.

INTERNSHIP & PART-TIME ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. The Ohio State Waterman Dairy is looking for students interested in the dairy industry who are looking for a paid job or internship for Summer 2016 employment. The OSU Waterman Dairy has 110 registered Jerseys in milk and approximately 165 replacement heifers.

  2. A working cattle and family ranch located near Dubois, Wyoming needs a summer employee. Duties include but are not limited to: cutting lawns, spraying weeds, mending fences, watering lawns and pastures. Some horseback riding experience is preferred.

  10. The Ohio Cattlemen's Association and Ohio Beef Council offers many internships for college students throughout the year. A scholarship will be awarded to each intern. Each intern also has the opportunity to earn credit while completing the internship.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

  1. The National Poultry & Food Distributors Association awards scholarships to various students of agricultural colleges and universities across the United States. Each selected student will receive a $2000-2500 scholarship from NPFDA.

  2. This merit-based, non-renewable scholarship is available to students who have an overall GPA of at least 3.0 and can provide letters of recommendation as well as evidence of career motivation. Up to $2,500 is available for students entering their final year in four-year and five-year programs.
