  2. ANIMSCI 2700 Spring Course

    Are you interested in learning more about what you can do with your animal science degree and how to best prepare yourself to be successful?  Consider taking the 1 credit hour ANIM SCI 2700 course the first 7 weeks of spring term!  Careers, finding internships and full-time positions, building a stellar resume, crafting cover letters, and practicing your interview skills will all be part of the course.  The class has Monday lectures 12:40-1:35 & small group recitations with students that have similar goals on Thursday’s from 4:30-5:25.  Contact Mariette Benage for more information.

  3. CHAIRE Research Symposium

    The Center of Human-Animal Interaction Research and Development is excited to announce their first research symposium! Faculty members, graduate, undergraduate and professional students are invited to submit their abstracts for an Ignite-style presentation. Mark your calendars for Tuesday April 7, 2020.

  4. Poultry Science Club Turkey Order

    Poultry Science Club is taking orders for their 69th annual Turkey Sale until November 13th! The turkeys are free-range, raised antibiotic free, and fed a vegetable diet.   5. Merck Animal Health

    Merck Animal Health is offering a variety of internships in 2020.  Juniors and seniors are invited to apply to any internship they are interested in.  The internship postings are continually updating with new opportunities daily, so please check back regularly if you do not see one that fits.  If you have any questions, please reach out.

  6. ABS Global Internship

    ABS Global has a variety of internships currently available. There are positions open available to tech, university, and college students.

    Some available internships are Beef Marketing and Sales Intern, Technical and Genetic Services, Genetic Management Serives, and Markteting Copywriter.

  7. World Wide Sires Internship

    World Wide Sires is looking for a creatie, motivated, and detail-oriented Summer 202 Marketing and Averstising Intern. They are looking for an agriculture communicator who is wanting to gain experience in marketing and public relations. 

    This internship will be tailored to the applicants' strengths and weaknesses. Interns may have responsibilities such as creating advertisements and flyers, create content for social media accounts, and gather testimonials, photos and videos to support the advertising campaign.

  8. Topnotch Showstock Internship

    Topnotch Livestock is a show wether goat and lamb production firm. Topnotch Livestock utilizes IVF and AI to access elite genetics. Approximately half of their herd will be kidded out by the start of the internship (early January).  Most of the marketing is done in March, and a show string will be campaigned in April and May.   There could be an opportunity to develop into a partnership after the internship, for the right person.

  9. Seaboard Foods

    Seaboard Foods produces premium pork products connected every step of the way from before the farm to beyond the plate. They are looking to hire studentss graduating Fall 2019 or May 2020 in Trainee programs. Trainee programs are designed specifically for each department to help students gain the skills they need. These positions are full-time, salaried, and offer benefits. The list of Trainee programs currently hiring is listed below. 

  10. Dairy Unit Manager

    University of Florida is looking to hire a Dairy Unit Manager. The position will entail coordinating activites for the research program, managing employees and students working at the Dairy Unit, and assisting with finances and budgeting. 

    The ideal applicant will have a Bachelor's in Dairy Science or closely related field. The applicant should also have experience managing a dairy production enterprise and experience in dairy science research. Strong customer service skills and a motivitional leading style is required.

  11. Ohio Cattlemen's Association Full-Time Position

    The Ohio Cattlemen’s Association and the Ohio Beef Council are accepting applications for the following full-time position.

    Director of Communications and Ohio Cattleman Managing Editor - The position is responsible for all OCA internal and external communications. Internal communications includes production of the Ohio Cattleman magazine, member e-newsletters and graphic design work for association programs.  External communications includes distribution of press releases, regular updating of association websites, and management of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube accounts.  Similar communications functions are also required for the Ohio Beef Council. Position requires excellent writing skills and publication layout and design skills including a high proficiency with Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop. Cattle industry background is preferred.

  12. CFAES Ambassador Info Sessions

    Are you interested in applying to be an Ambassador for the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES)? To learn more about what the CFAES ambassador team is all about, attend one of the information sessions listed below. This is an optional activity to learn more about the application and interview process. There will have current ambassadors in attendance to share their experiences. 

    • January 22 (W) from 11:30am-12:25pm, Agricultural Administration room 250A
    • January 23 (Th) from 5:20-6:15pm, Agricultural Administration room 250A

    Application Process

    If you would like to apply to be a College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences Ambassador, the application will be available on Friday, November 1, 2019. Click here to learn more about becoming an ambassador. The application is due on Monday, February 3, 2020. CFAES Ambassadors are a team of undergraduate students selected to represent the college to prospective students and guests, alumni, and donors.

     

  13. Publication Opportunity

    JUROS is the Journal for Undergraduate Research at Ohio State. This organization is a multidisciplinary research journal, and is in place to review and publish quality research performed and submitted by Ohio State’s undergraduate student body. They are currently accepting submissions for online and print editions! 

    Material acceptable for submission includes:

    • Manuscripts (6-35 pages) 
    • Feature articles (<6 pages)
    • Images & descriptions of creative projects
    • Research theses (<35 pages)
    • Research abstracts

    Publish with JUROS and you will have a permanent, professional citation to your name and get recognition for your hard work!

    If you’ve already written about your research or drafted an abstract, consider submitting it to JUROS!

  16. University Mental Health Resources

    All OSU Counseling and Consultation Services (CCS) staff were sent home to tele-commute until further notice.The CCS phone line 614-292-5766 remains available for emergency assistance 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Students can push 2 to reach a mental health counselor at any time.

    CCS has suspended onsite and in person services, including those at embedded locations, through at least May 3, 2020.  You are still able to connect with a counselor  for a 30 minute phone or video consultation using Carmen Zoom or Skype. These consultations are offered 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday through Friday in order to check in with students, problem solve, and offer support.  Students will need to share their address/location at the time of the call.

    Students can access many self-help tools that are available on the CCS website at https://ccs.osu.edu . The CCS COVID-19 updates page linked to the website is a great resource. On that page, students will find helpful coping skills such as the mental health strategies video series. This time that can be difficult for many. All students are encouraged to check that out.

    If you encounter a suspected emergency situation with any student during this time, crisis support is available by calling CCS at 614-292-5766. If this happens with the student remotely located, please try to get as much contact information about the student such as name, phone number, OSU dot #, and address where they are currently located. If you suspect safety is at risk or compromised at that time for the student or anyone they are with, please call 9-1-1. They will help immediately regardless of where the student is physically located. After you have done one of the steps above, please let me know of the situation so that follow up contact attempts can be made with the student. Please make sure to provide me with the best way to reach you right now too.

  17. CFAES Mental Health Counselor

    Did you know that CFAES has hired a counselor to support the needs of their students' mental health?  Dr. Wirt holds counseling sessions in Ag Admin Room 100 four days a week and is in Lincoln Tower on Wednesday. See the attached if you’re interested in making an appointment.

  18. Handshake

    Ohio State has switched to Handshake - a modern career development platform for students to explore career employment, internships and other opportunities, based on their interests, major and skills. FisherConnect and Symplicity (CareerEngine, Hireabuckeye, FutureLink, Buckeye Careers Network) have transitioned to Handshake.

    Handshake offers many exciting new features, including:

    • Relevant feed of job and internship opportunities
    • News feed containing the latest information from career services offices and favorite employers
    • Resources specifically matching students interests

    Student accounts are preloaded and can be accessed at http://handshake.osu.edu/, using their name.# and password. Students will need to complete their profiles with details, such as work experiences, skills, interests and organizations. Next, students can explore the many resources and tools that are available in Handshake.  

  19. Portfolium Resource Page

    The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences has renewed its partnership with Portfolium.com and will continue to provide ALL students and faculty the opportunity to create a professional, online digital portfolio. In today’s world, employers seek evidence of career-relevant skills and competencies beyond listings on a resume. Students at all levels can easily create evidence-based credentials. In other words, attaching documents, videos, audio files, graphics, coding samples and presentations help demonstrate your knowledge and abilities.

    You should have already received your Portfolium invitation with the subject: “Access your CFAES Portfolium.” The email contains a link to activate your free verified account within the CFAES network using your Ohio State credentials.  If you missed the initial email, you can also join by using the Portfolium Resource Page.
