  2. This week's Pet of the Week is Benjamin! Benjamin is an 8 year old golden retriever/yellow labrador mix. He was rescued a year ago and now enjoys life as a farm dog herding chickens! Ben loves to follow his owner around the farm and "help" any way he can.

INTERNSHIP & PART-TIME ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Kalmbach Swine Management, Ohio’s largest pork producer, has an exciting, paid summer internship opportunity designed for college students with a livestock production career path.

  2. Calling freshmen and sophomores! The application is now open for the Cargill Global Scholars Program - a distinctive, 2-year scholarship and enrichment program providing financial support, mentorship, and the unique opportunity for U.S.

  3. Certified Angus Beef is looking for enthusiastic, engaging writers for their internship program. A well-developed, multi-media portfolio is critical to success in any communications role across the beef industry and interns get the chance to build theirs.

    The Ohio State Waterman Dairy is looking for students interested in operating farm equipment and working with dairy cattle. Paid positions are open for Spring 2021 employment and can fulfill internship requirements.

  5. The internship will be based from Witmer’s Feed & Grain, Inc. in Columbiana, Ohio. There will be significant travel to dairy farms throughout Eastern Ohio, Western Pennsylvania and Southern New York, some may require over night stays.

  8. OSU is a member of the Midwest Poultry Consortium Center of Excellence Program. Several Ohio State students have participated in MPC’s COE program and OSU professor Dr. Cressman teaches at the Center of Excellence.

GRADUATE SCHOOL OPPORTUNITIES

  1. The Rainfed Agriculture Innovation Network (RAIN) project plans to host a summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program (

  2. The OARDC Mastitis and Mammary Physiology Laboratory led by Dr. Enger in the Department of Animal Sciences at Ohio State University is seeking applications for a full time MS and PhD student.

  3. Dr. Amy Skibiel’s Lactation Physiology Lab, in the Department of Animal, Veterinary and Food Sciences, is recruiting graduate students! The main research themes of the lab center around lactation biology, animal physiology, and postnatal development.

COLUMBUS EVENTS

  1. Experiential, food-forward events and meetings are on the menu at 1400 Food Lab. Bring people together through custom in-kitchen experiences and chef-prepared meals for executive retreats, training sessions, team-building and celebrations.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

  1. The Ohio Pork Council is pleased to offer three scholarship opportunities in 2021. Students entering their freshman, sophomore, junior or senior year in college are encouraged to apply. Applicants, or their parents, must be Ohio Pork Council members.

LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT

  1. If you’re planning to graduate in the Spring 2021, Summer 2021, or Autumn 2021 semester and have a 3.0 GPA or greater, you might consider applying to be recognized as a CFAES Distinguished Senior. Selections will be based on service, employment, involvement, research, and academics.

  2. The Dairy Challenge allows teams of 3 to 4 individuals to use the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom to compete in a fun, educational environment. Due to COVID-19, an actual visit to a dairy farm will not be possible.

  3. Apply today to become a 2021 CFAES Peer Mentor! Interested in helping to connect new students to OSU and CFAES?

NAVIGATING COVID TOGETHER

  1. In alignment with recommendations from the Safe Campus and Scientific Advisory Subgroup, Campus Area Bus Service (CABS) continues to limit occupancy to support safety and physical distancing guidelines. For students coming/going to our CFAES Columbus campus, please note:

  2. The Libraries are currently offering contact-free pickup by appointment at Thompson Library only, and document delivery through

The large majority of our faculty and staff will be telecommuting during the pandemic, which means the best way to get assistance is to email your advisor or instructors with questions, or to set up a Zoom or phone call.  There will be a contact directory of email and phone # of all faculty and
