CAMPUS NEWS & EVENTS

  1. The next AWBC meeting is October 18th at 7 pm in Plumb Hall Arena. Eddie Landry, a local barn manager and equine showman, will be speaking on horse training and behavior! He will be bringing his horses to give demonstrations at the meeting!

  2. The Little International Ham & Corned Beef Curing Contest is part of The Saddle & Sirloin Little International on November 4th.

  5. The Little International events consist of showmanship competitions in five livestock species (goats have been added this year), and a Ham and Corned Beef Curing Contest.

  7. Buckeye Parasitology Club is accepting new members! This club includes undergraduates, graduate and professional students. Anyone with an interest in parasites (veterinary or human) is welcome to join.

INTERNSHIP & PART-TIME ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Tyson R&D Foods is accepting applications to fill 7 internship postions for summer 2018. This internship will provide hands-on experiences and allow individuals to gain mentorship from highly experiences industry professionals.

  2. Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) is looking for a summer commercial dairy intern. The intern will be assigned a sales mentor that they will ride with to become acclimated to the sales climate.

  3. ABS Global has 2018 summer internship openings for individuals with a desire to gain experience with the industry leader for utilizing biotechnology to pioneer animal genetic improvement. They are looking for self-motivated students with a positive attitude and a passion for learning!

  6. Are you interested in a career as a large dairy herd manager? Apply for the Hilmar Dairy Farm Internship. Interns develop skills to become a herdsman or dairy manager. This is a paid internship and offers housing and a travel reimbursement.

  7. The Columbus Division of Police is currently looking for students interested in an internship with our Mounted Unit during the Spring Semester. Internships are voluntary, non-paid positions and are intended for students that are seeking academic credit.

FULL-TIME JOB ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Kalmbach Feeds is looking for a full-time dairy nutirtionist. This is a highly responsible position associated with providing meaningful technical support and growing the dairy nutritional product sales.

  2. DHI Cooperative, Inc. has an immediate need for a Lab Technician in their ELISA lab located in west Columbus. They analyze both milk and blood (serum) samples for pregnancy and disease for cattle and goat/sheep producers.

  5. The Department of Animal Science under the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking candidates for a Program Coordinator III – Dairy Farm Manager.

  6. Rascal Animal Hospital is currently seeking veterinary assistants and RVT’s to join their animal care team!!!

  7. Position Overview: The Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) will have the primary responsibility for overseeing the animal husbandry on a day-to-day and study-to-study basis. The LAT will perform daily animal care and daily routine cleaning of labs and offices.

RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES

  1. A PhD and/or MS graduate research assistant position(s) is available in Dr. Jackie Boerman’s at Purdue University to pursue projects related to applied dairy cattle nutrition.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

  1. Several college scholarships are available to beef industry youth through the Ohio Cattlemen's Foundation. These scholarships are administered through the Ohio Cattlemen's Foundation in conjunction with various organizations and individuals.
