  1. Barjs and Rec Dog Daycare Center has job openings for hard working individuals who are energetic, friendly, reliable, and self-motivated. Applicants must be comfortable in large groups of dogs (40+) with varying sizes and energy levels.

  2. Nevada is hiring several faculty and staff positions in 4-H Youth Development and Children, Youth, and Families areas. They are recruiting for a statewide 4-H Livestock Coordinator.

CAMPUS NEWS & EVENTS

  1. CFAES Student Council is hosting the Fall Flannel Fest at Waterman Farm next Wednesday, October 27th from 5-7:30 PM! Some of the activities include a pumpkin painitng contest, a cornhole tournament, a Waterman Farm tour, and a halloween movie!

  2. Poultry Science Club of OSU is now taking orders for our 71st annual Turkey Sale until November 9thThe turkeys are supplied by Bowman & Landes Turkeys, Inc.

  3. This year's Buckeye Royal Contest is Saturday, November 6th! Over a few weeks, you can train a heifer to walk on a halter. Then, you will have the opportunity to show her in a showmanship contest with your peers!

INTERNSHIP & PART-TIME ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Select Sires, Inc. is seeking motivated individuals to join their team as a Livestock Technician. This hourly, non-exempt position is located at their facility in Plain City, Ohio. Candidates must be self-directed, detail-oriented, and organized. Current openings include:

  2. Certified Angus Beef has some upcoming opportunities for students interested in learning more about the beef business! 

  3. The Angus Foundation is excited to announce applications are being accepted now through December 1st for their Talon Internship Program.

  4. Desert Pines Equine in Las Vegas, NV, is offering a Veterinary Assistant Rotating Internship for animal science and equine science program graduates. It is six-months, full-time, and paid.

  5. There are two summer insternship openings at COBA/Select Sires! 

  6. The Hagyard Equine Medical Institute is still accepting applications for our undergraduate internship program for this upcoming season from January-June 2022!

  7. Riverview has a dairy internship program in a variety of areas with opportunities available in Arizona, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico and South Dakota. These paid internships will run from May 31 - August 5, 2022.

  8. The Vet Clinic in Worthington, Ohio is looking for a part time kennel technician. Duties will include cleaning the hospital at night as well as caring for any pets that may be boarded or hospitalized!

  9. Alta Genetics is now hiring students for their 2022 Dairy Business Internship! See attatched for more information.

LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT

  1. Colorado State University (CSU) and the National Western Stock Show (NWSS) have partnered to bring together industry experts for a multi-day event to discuss global livestock and meat production.

  2. Applications are now open for students to attend the URUS Dairy Consulting Experience in Jan 2022! This program was created to help undergraduate students enhance their dairy consulting skills.

  3.  If you are interested in professional development, serving as a UTA is a great opportunity!

  1. All OSU Counseling and Consultation Services (CCS) staff were sent home to tele-commute until further notice.The CCS phone line 614-292-5766 remains available for emergency assistance 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.

  5. The Career Services page on the departmental site has been redeveloped to hopefully make it more user-friendly. Check out helpful resources for building a resume, writing cover letters and more. There are resume templates that can be used to create a resume in case you don’t know where to start
