Barks and Rec Job Opportunities
Barjs and Rec Dog Daycare Center has job openings for hard working individuals who are energetic, friendly, reliable, and self-motivated. Applicants must be comfortable in large groups of dogs (40+) with varying sizes and energy levels. Some flexibility is required with scheduling, such as working at least one weekend a month and holidays.
They maintain a clean, healthy, and safe facility that requires cleaning duties like picking up dog waste and mopping up accidents on a continual basis. Applicants must also be able to use equipment such as a mop, floor sprayer, vacuum, and squeegee. Daycare attendants will also be required to clean kennels and care for boarding dogs. The pay is negotiable and depends on experience.

VETPREV 5721 Being Offered Again Spring 2022
How Animals Can Make You Sick: An Introduction to Zoonoses (VETPREV 5721) is being offered again this Spring after positive feedback from the past two editions. This will be an online course at the entry level with asynchronous content (to allows for student flexibility) and synchronous discussions (to allow real-time interactions with experts and professionals in the field). The Undergraduate Research & Creative Inquiry office is happy to announce that applications are now being accepted for the Virtual Autumn Undergraduate Research Festival, taking place November 15-19th with applications open until October 22nd. This event is open to all undergraduate researchers to present their work, regardless of major or project status. Buckeye Royal Contest
This year's Buckeye Royal Contest is Saturday, November 6th! Over a few weeks, you can train a heifer to walk on a halter. Then, you will have the opportunity to show her in a showmanship contest with your peers! If interested, you can sign up using the QR code on this flyer. US Cellular Agriculture Hackathon Application
Applications for the US Cellular Agriculture Hackathon just opened. They are looking for students (undergraduate and graduate) who are interested in sustainability, food science, STEM, food systems, business marketing, environmental law, and many other areas of interest! This event will allow students to network with companies, investors, academic institutions, and students all working towards the same goal of creating a sustainable future. The hackathon is sponsored by Merck Innovation Center, New Harvest, and GFI, and will take place in January. Applications are open until November 1st, 2021. All interested students are encouraged to apply regardless of their knowledge of cellular agriculture. We will provide a crash course and other resources for participants to learn about the industry before competing in this hackathon.

Animal Science Merchandise
The Animal Science department is now taking orders for departmental embroidered and screen print clothing items (button up shirts, polos, jackets, vests, sweatshirts, hats, etc.). They've created a great web site with all of our products, color options, etc. for you to view and order online. To order, add items to your cart online and then there will be a checkout process. Payment cannot be collected through this site.
- All orders need to be paid for by either utilizing Venmo and sending the funds to @OSUASCA, or sending a check written to “ASCA” or providing cash (Attn. Mariette Benage, 2027 Coffey Rd., Columbus, OH 43210).
All orders will be delivered to Plumb Hall for a pickup unless you specify at checkout that you want to ship your order. There is an additional charge for shipping and that will need to be added to the total cost of your order. This is only done once a year and everything is "made to order.” Orders and payment are due by Sunday, October 10th with an expected in-hands date of November 15th.

Desert Pines Equine Internship
Desert Pines Equine in Las Vegas, NV, is offering a Veterinary Assistant Rotating Internship for animal science and equine science program graduates. It is six-months, full-time, and paid. It is a great oppurtuinity to take the skills you’ve learned in the classroom and apply them in the real world with the support of licensed veterinary technicians and a team of skilled veterinarians, including a board-certified surgeon and internist. The schedule rotates between day appointments and after-hours, allowing you to see a diverse caseload and use state-of-the-art equipment. Some responsibilities you would have would be assisting with surgeries, monitoring neonatal foals, and supporting ambulatory doctors in the field. More information about the position is attatched.

Hagyard Equine Medical Institute: Undergraduate Internship Program
The Hagyard Equine Medical Institute is still accepting applications for our undergraduate internship program for this upcoming season from January-June 2022! It is a great avenue for students or recent graduates to explore other areas of the equine industry with great networking opportunities. A very high veterinary caseload provides ample hands-on learning, and it is a paid internship and college credit can be earned. More information about the available positions is attatched.

Summer 22' Internships at Riverview
Riverview has a dairy internship program in a variety of areas with opportunities available in Arizona, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico and South Dakota. These paid internships will run from May 31 - August 5, 2022. The program is very hands-on and we bring the entire group of interns together throughout the summer for networking, field trips and labs. Interns also have weekly check-ins to make sure goals and expectations are being met. The application deadline is October 31, 2021. Internship areas include Accounting/Finance, Beef Feedlot/Systems, Dairy Construction, Dairy Calf/Heifer Ranch, Dairy Farm Production, Dairy Nutrition, Farm Operations/Matenance, Farm Permitting/Compliance, and Human Resources.

Kennel Technician Position at The Vet Clinic

Undergraduate Research Assistant Opportunity
Dr. Kim of the College of Veterinary Medicine in the Department of Veterinary Biosciences is looking for one or two undergraduate students to work in his lab. A weekly commitment of at least 5 hours is required during the academic semesters and the srtudent must be available for at least half of the Summer. Hours can be arranged around the student's schedule. After a short training period (usually a month), the students will be financially supported (at an hourly rate, based on the College of Veterinary Medicine salary recommendation for undergraduate students). Dairy Farm Internships
The PACE AG Group is looking for 2022 Dairy Production Summer Interns who want to gain experience in large scale dairy farm management and business.
A brief overview of the opportunity: Interns will gain commercial dairy operation experience through completing the day-to-day tasks of animal treatments, fresh cow and maternity, breeding and preg checks, milking and cattle flow, and calf health. Additionally, by working with management issues such as employee relations and learning the fiscal responsibility of management decisions. With this, our goal for interns is to help them understand the daily operations as well as the daily challenges of dairy farming, and the importance of adapting to changes. There are locations in central MN, western IN, and southwest KS. The internship time period: June 6 – August 12 (10 weeks) and the deadline to apply is December 12, 2021.

MS Translational Pharmacology Online Information Session
Develop skills in preclinical or clinical trial design, toxicology, safety or clinical pharmacology, or advance your career in research administration. Ohio State’s 100% online master's program: MS Translational Pharmacology is designed for students and clinicians with a bioscience or animal science background. Choose from one of two specializations: Toxicology and Safety Pharmacology or Clinical Pharmacology and Clinical Trial Design. We are currently accepting applications through October 1, 2021, for spring 2022 enrollment and through February 1, 2022 for summer 2022 enrollment.

Texas A&M Ph.D. in Genetics and Genomics
The Interdisciplinary Program in Genetics and Genomics is the premier interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in the Natural Sciences at Texas A&M University and offers research opportunities in a diverse range of Specialties: Bioinformatics and Genomics; Conservation, Population and Evolution Genetics; Medical Genetics; Microbial Genetics; Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Genetics; and Plant Genetics. The Program provides research opportunities to aspiring scientists in these various fields for successful careersin academia, government, and industry. Completion of the Ph.D. degree requires core curriculum coursework, preliminary examinations, teaching, and the development, completion, and defense of a research project. Generally, 4 to 5 years of study is required to complete 96 semester hours. The Ph.D. degree is awarded principally on demonstrated ability to conduct significant and original scientific research. Summer Undergraduate Research in Genetics and Genomics (SURGe) Program
The Texas A&M Summer Undergraduate Research in Genetics and Genomics (SURGe) Program is a 10-week intensive research experience under the mentorship of one of their Faculty of Genetics members that include a 3-credit hour Bioinformatics class. The free online application is now open for summer 2022 admissions until February 15, 2022.
The introductory Bioinformatics class provides training in modern bioinformatics tools via command-line used in genetics and genomics. The credits are transferable to their home institution. Additionally, students will have weekly meetings to explore research and career opportunities in genetics and genomics, discuss research ethics, how to apply to graduate school, and learn practical oral and written presentation skills.

Youth Extension Programming Associate Virginia Tech
Job Description
Virginia Cooperative Extension is seeking applications for the position of Extension Programming Associate Youth Animal Science. The successful candidate will be nontenure track, administrative/professional faculty. The ideal candidate will blend superior leadership, organizational, attention to detail, and logistical skills with experience in and a passion for working with youth animal science extension programming. The position will work in coordination with the Extension Youth Animal Science Specialist and Extension Youth Animal Science programming team to lead, organize, implement, manage, market, and evaluate youth (4H & FFA) Animal Science programs, competitions, events and curriculum on the state level and offer expertise, training, and leadership to VA youth participating in National events. Candidate will participate fully in the policies and programs of Virginia Cooperative Extension and the Department of Animal and Poultry Sciences. Salary is commensurate with qualifications, including education and experience. This is a full-time, restricted 12-month appointment. The position will be located in Blacksburg, Virginia at Virginia Tech, with periodic travel to other parts of the state, as needed to support programming efforts and events.Required Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree with at least one degree in agriculture related field. A background and experience with youth programming, a variety of species that would be included in youth animal science programming, and youth competition planning and organization. The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong leadership ability required to motivate and manage volunteers and possess strong writing, speaking, and interpersonal skills. Organizational skills are required, along with the ability to work and collaborate as a member of the youth animal science programming team – sharing responsibilities for various programs, competitions, and events across species – with an emphasis on positive youth development. The successful candidate will work with Extension Agents, volunteer leaders, and industry stakeholders, to provide leadership and assistance for numerous events encompassing a variety of youth animal science focused species. Computer applications and software aptitude, including web site management is required. Candidates must have the ability and willingness to travel, along with the ability to be self-motivated, work independently and excel in event planning and execution. Some night and weekend work is necessary dependent on events.Preferred Qualifications

CFAES - Experience Ohio State for a Day Hosts Needed
We need volunteers to host prospective high school students and show them around campus! EOFD Hosts volunteer to have prospective high school students shadow them from approximately 9:30 a.m. until about 1 p.m. for 3 to 4 weekdays total each semester. Hosts are encouraged to take students to see various classrooms, the Oval, the Union, a residence hall, and to eat lunch at a Dining Services location (lunch is free for the host and the prospective student). Hosting is open to any CFAES student who has completed at least one semester of classes on the Columbus campus, and the schedule is flexible and can be worked around your schedule.

University Mental Health Resources
All OSU Counseling and Consultation Services (CCS) staff were sent home to tele-commute until further notice.The CCS phone line 614-292-5766 remains available for emergency assistance 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Students can push 2 to reach a mental health counselor at any time.
CCS has suspended onsite and in person services, including those at embedded locations, through at least May 3, 2020. You are still able to connect with a counselor for a 30 minute phone or video consultation using Carmen Zoom or Skype. These consultations are offered 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday through Friday in order to check in with students, problem solve, and offer support. Students will need to share their address/location at the time of the call.
Students can access many self-help tools that are available on the CCS website at https://ccs.osu.edu . The CCS COVID-19 updates page linked to the website is a great resource. On that page, students will find helpful coping skills such as the mental health strategies video series. This time that can be difficult for many. All students are encouraged to check that out.

If you encounter a suspected emergency situation with any student during this time, crisis support is available by calling CCS at 614-292-5766. If this happens with the student remotely located, please try to get as much contact information about the student such as name, phone number, OSU dot #, and address where they are currently located. If you suspect safety is at risk or compromised at that time for the student or anyone they are with, please call 9-1-1. They will help immediately regardless of where the student is physically located. After you have done one of the steps above, please let me know of the situation so that follow up contact attempts can be made with the student. Please make sure to provide me with the best way to reach you right now too.

The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences has renewed its partnership with Portfolium.com and will continue to provide ALL students and faculty the opportunity to create a professional, online digital portfolio. In today’s world, employers seek evidence of career-relevant skills and competencies beyond listings on a resume. Students at all levels can easily create evidence-based credentials. In other words, attaching documents, videos, audio files, graphics, coding samples and presentations help demonstrate your knowledge and abilities.
You should have already received your Portfolium invitation with the subject: “Access your CFAES Portfolium.” The email contains a link to activate your free verified account within the CFAES network using your Ohio State credentials.
