Buckeyes 4 Beef
Do you enjoy eating beef? Do you just want to learn more about the industry? Come join members of the Ohio Collegiate Cattle Association at the RPAC Plaza on Friday, September 15th from 9:00-3:00. There will be games and activities about beef and members will be available to answer any questions you may have. We will also be giving away beef-themed prizes. All are welcome!

Take the Steak Grilling Contest
Looking for some good old fashioned Buckeye tailgating? Do you like to grill? The Ohio Collegiate Cattle Association is hosting their annual Take the Steak competition on Saturday, September 16 from 10:00-12:00. So form a team to represent your club or just grab a group of friends. Teams consist of 3-4 people and registration is $20 per team. Registration can be made to Dawn Berry (berry.639). The winning team will hold the steak trophy for the calendar year and will receive a beef-based dinner. Spectators are encouraged and there will be food and drinks provided.

The Vet Clinic in Worthington
The Vet Clinic in Worthington is looking for a part time Kennel Technician on Monday evenings, Friday evenings, Saturday evenings, and Sundays (AM and PM or one of the two shifts- negotiable!) Mon, Fri, and Sat would include cleaning the hospital at the end of the day, plus caring for any pets that are boarding or hospitalized, which can include feeding, walking, medicating, or any other necessary care. Sundays would only require caring for the animals, no cleaning. The position averages 10-12 hours per week, and pay starts at $8.65 per hour. - Experience not required, but preferred!
- Ability to work, learn from, and communicate well with fellow staff and supervisors.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions (hot, cold, snow, rain, ect.)
- Reliable transportation.
- References must be provided.

Full Circle Dairy Internship
Full Circle Dairy is a commercial dairy, milking 3,000 cows on a rotary parlor in Lee, Florida. Their replacement heifer program boasts state-of-the-art automated feeders, and the primary focus is individualized calf care. To them, every calf counts!
They are a dedicated and motivated team eager to provide real world experience to the next generation of dairy enthusiasts. Attached is a brochure containing more information, as well as an internship application.

South Wind Stables houses 18 horses, has riding trails on 60 acres, and an indoor arena of 80x200
They have a welcoming and easy going environment that offers the intern the opportunity to become knowledgeable about and engaged in: stable management and practices from customer service viewpoint, and contracts to the financial aspects of the business. Also, the importance of stable housekeeping, working with horses of a wide variety of breeds in basic horsemanship, and dressage, show management ( schooling shows on premises June, July, Aug, Sept) In addition, as part a a well-rounded barn, there will be learning experiences with veterinary care, nutrition, pasture management, farrier, chiropractor, acupuncture, equine behavior and body language, riding, stall cleaning, grooming, client relationships. Yes, you will be cleaning stalls, but there are many other opportunities also.
Owner/Trainer has earned USEF bronze and silver medals and is USDF “L” Graduate for dressage judge training.

Full-Time Position with QTest Labs
Position Overview: The Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) will have the primary responsibility for overseeing the animal husbandry on a day-to-day and study-to-study basis. The LAT will perform daily animal care and daily routine cleaning of labs and offices. Additionally, the LAT will perform study-specific skill sets as required. These skill sets may be, but not limited to, study room set-up, environmental logs, animal logs, shipping and handling, data collection, and quality control of data. The LAT will be trained and signed off on all aspects of the job description, as well as the GLP’s. The LAT is responsible for reading and following all pertinent SOPs related to the job description and facility.
Essential Job Functions:
· Husbandry for all animals in the facility, including appropriate environmental conditions.
· Handling animals to assist in study-related activities.
· Receiving animals per specific SOP.
· Maintaining and reviewing accurate animal records.
· Report any abnormal animal observations to Study Director and Attending Veterinarian in a timely manner.
· Cleaning and maintaining facility.
· Full Time and Part time Hours Available.
Non-essential Job Functions:
· Maintenance of front office (cleaning, organization, trash, vacuum, etc.).
Requirements:
· Physical ability to move and lift animals and cages.
· Able to work with and handle a variety of animal species.
· Knowledge of computers and software systems (i.e., Excel, Word, Power Point).
Other Skills/Abilities:
· Interaction with personnel, vendors, and clients.

Available Position for Applied Dairy Nutrition Graduate Research Assistant
A PhD and/or MS graduate research assistant position(s) is available in Dr. Jackie Boerman’s at Purdue University to pursue projects related to applied dairy cattle nutrition.
A strong undergraduate (or Master’s degree) with a background in Animal Science, Biology or related majors is required, with some prior research experience preferred. Research will be focused on the presentation of diets impact on intake and production and/or nutritionally manipulating energy partitioning in lactating dairy cattle.
A strong candidate will have a competitive GPA and GRE score, experience handling dairy cattle, and previous lab experience. Anticipated start date is January, 2018 and/or August, 2018.

Monda Student Resource Center
The Monda Student Resource Center is a support resource for students that may struggle to succeed because essential needs such as food, housing, clothing, or other needs are not being met. The center provides free access to essential items, including hygiene products, pantry staples, and professional clothing, to support student well-being and success. If you are in need of additional support, please visit the Monda Student Resource Center which is on the first floor of the Younkin Success Center (Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 4 PM).

University Mental Health Resources
All OSU Counseling and Consultation Services (CCS) staff were sent home to tele-commute until further notice.The CCS phone line 614-292-5766 remains available for emergency assistance 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Students can push 2 to reach a mental health counselor at any time.
CCS has suspended onsite and in person services, including those at embedded locations, through at least May 3, 2020. You are still able to connect with a counselor for a 30 minute phone or video consultation using Carmen Zoom or Skype. These consultations are offered 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday through Friday in order to check in with students, problem solve, and offer support. Students will need to share their address/location at the time of the call.
Students can access many self-help tools that are available on the CCS website at https://ccs.osu.edu . The CCS COVID-19 updates page linked to the website is a great resource. On that page, students will find helpful coping skills such as the mental health strategies video series. This time that can be difficult for many. All students are encouraged to check that out.

If you encounter a suspected emergency situation with any student during this time, crisis support is available by calling CCS at 614-292-5766. If this happens with the student remotely located, please try to get as much contact information about the student such as name, phone number, OSU dot #, and address where they are currently located. If you suspect safety is at risk or compromised at that time for the student or anyone they are with, please call 9-1-1. They will help immediately regardless of where the student is physically located. After you have done one of the steps above, please let me know of the situation so that follow up contact attempts can be made with the student. Please make sure to provide me with the best way to reach you right now too.

The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences has renewed its partnership with Portfolium.com and will continue to provide ALL students and faculty the opportunity to create a professional, online digital portfolio. In today’s world, employers seek evidence of career-relevant skills and competencies beyond listings on a resume. Students at all levels can easily create evidence-based credentials. In other words, attaching documents, videos, audio files, graphics, coding samples and presentations help demonstrate your knowledge and abilities.
You should have already received your Portfolium invitation with the subject: “Access your CFAES Portfolium.” The email contains a link to activate your free verified account within the CFAES network using your Ohio State credentials.
