CAMPUS NEWS & EVENTS

  1. Night of Young Professionals is an evening to learn the "tricks of the trade" from industry professionals. Workshops will focus on preparation for the upcoming career fair. This event is on Tuesday, October 10th, at the Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center.

  2. SmartAg4.0 is a competition for Ohio college students who are passionate about food systems. While not a computer programming event, SmartAg4.0 models itself off of signature Ohio State events such as HackOHI/O in its spirit and structure.

  3. OSU CVM is hosting a career fair on Thursday, October 5th from 5-7pm in the VMAB. There will be practices that offer summer externships for pre-vet students that want to get more experience before applying to vet school, and its also a chance to network with other vet students

  4. Suit-up is a perfect way to expand your wardrobe without busting your budget. All students will likely need professional career apparel whether it is to network, interview, or start their first job. Take advantage of this opportunity to look your best.

  5. Do you love cows, sheep, goats, llamas, alpacas, pigs, fish, or all of the above? Do you want to be a veterinarian and work with these animals for a living?

  6. Buckeye Parasitology Club is accepting new members! This club includes undergraduates, graduate and professional students. Anyone with an interest in parasites (veterinary or human) is welcome to join.

INTERNSHIP & PART-TIME ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Ohio Cattleman's Association is looking for five spring interns. The Spring Semester Internships are all 20 hours per week and run January through the Ohio Beef Expo into the latter part of April depending on the position need.

  2. The Columbus Division of Police is currently looking for students interested in an internship with our Mounted Unit during the Spring Semester. Internships are voluntary, non-paid positions and are intended for students that are seeking academic credit.

  3. Sitz Angus is looking for two types of interns: ranch and farm. 

  4. East Central/Select Sires is accepting applications for their 2018 internships.
  5. Cargill Animal Nutrition provides customized animal productivity solutions to commercial producers across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Rather than focusing on standardized nutrition products, they create customized ingredient blends and management programs to fit each situation.

  6. Fort Christopher’s Thoroughbreds, LLC is a modern, thoroughbred facility located just 15 minutes from historic Saratoga Racecourse. They are currently accepting applications for multiple seasonal internship opportunities including:  
  7. Full Circle Dairy is a commercial dairy, milking 3,000 cows on a rotary parlor in Lee, Florida. Their replacement heifer program boasts state-of-the-art automated feeders, and the primary focus is individualized calf care. To them, every calf counts!

    The Kentucky Equine Management Internship is accepting applications for the 2018 Spring Session!

    The deadline to apply to Spring 2018 is October 31, 2017.

    Actual dates for the course are January 8 – June 8, 2018.

  3. The Department of Animal Science under the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking candidates for a Program Coordinator III – Dairy Farm Manager.

  4. Rascal Animal Hospital is currently seeking veterinary assistants and RVT’s to join their animal care team!!!

  5. Position Overview: The Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) will have the primary responsibility for overseeing the animal husbandry on a day-to-day and study-to-study basis. The LAT will perform daily animal care and daily routine cleaning of labs and offices.

RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES

  1. A PhD and/or MS graduate research assistant position(s) is available in Dr. Jackie Boerman’s at Purdue University to pursue projects related to applied dairy cattle nutrition.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

  1. Several college scholarships are available to beef industry youth through the Ohio Cattlemen's Foundation. These scholarships are administered through the Ohio Cattlemen's Foundation in conjunction with various organizations and individuals.
