ACADEMIC DATES & INFO

  1. Looking for a unique course to take this fall?   CFAES Dean Kress and Dr. Hitzhusen from ENR will be offering a Group Studies course (ENR/FAES 5194) titled “What Does it Mean to be a Good Person?” 

CAMPUS NEWS & EVENTS

  1. The Center for Human Animal Interactions Research and Education is hosting a Human-Animal Internactions day! It will be held on October 2nd, from noon to five.

INTERNSHIP & PART-TIME ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Miamitown Equine Veterinary Services is hiring in Cleves, Oh. Qualified candidates are detail oriented, self-motivated, and organized. Our fast-paced practice requires efficiency as a top priority.

  2. NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR A YEAR-LONG DAIRY INTERNSHIP at W.H. Miner Agricultural Research Institute

  3. Schneider's is hiring for the Quarter Horse Congress from September 20th through October 24th. There are positions open in their retail booth.Schneider's also has entry level and beyond positions open in their corporate office.

  5. KESMARC, Kentucky Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center has a few spots open for our fall and winter internship programs. The Derby internship is full time and lasts 3 months (housing is provided)!

  6. Student Position Available!

  7. Animal Care Unlimited is a 5-DVM (and growing!) small animal/ exotic practice and pet boarding facility in NW Columbus seeking to fill one to two full or part time animal care positions on our team. Previous veterinary hospital or animal related experience is preferred.

FULL-TIME JOB ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. We have recently announced a Dairy Research Technician position at UW-Platteville. This position will assist in the dairy cow-related research and training efforts at Pioneer Farm and the on-campus lab spaces. The major qualifications are listed below. 

  2. STgenetics Ohio Heifer Center is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a veterinary/research assistant at our South Charleston, OH location located just 40 minutes from Columbus.

  3.  In 2019, the Denmandale family farm started talking about adding a milk processing plant to the farm.

  4. UW-Madison is looking for someone who might be interested in managing the animal sciences youth programs in the Division of Extension at UW-Madison. B.S. is required and M.S.

  5. ULAR is in need of technicians in their lab animal facilities, and would welcome any applicants from the Animal Sciences graduates and students. They are mostly looking for full time employees, but would try to accommodate some current students as well. Anyone interested can contact Dr.

COLUMBUS EVENTS

  1. Lynd Fruit Farm will have an expanded apple shooting range.This year’s targets include a series of ‘giant chimes’, each with a different sound depending on where you hit the canister. The apple cannons are open Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  2. The Powell Chamber Farmer’s Market features about 30 vendors/farmers selling vegetables, fruit, plants, breads, pies, baked goods, and crafts such as jewelry, candles, and lotions. The market is every Saturday and Sunday May 22-October 10th from 9am – 12pm.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

  1. Part of the Lallemand Forward program is an annual scholarship opportunity with awards for undergraduate, DVM, masters, and PhD students.  They have started accepting applications now through Sep. 30th.

LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT

  1. The Animal Welfare Judging and Assessment Contest (AWJAC) provides a unique educational experience where students learn to assess animal welfare in a variety of settings using evidence-based methods and oral reasoning.

  1. All OSU Counseling and Consultation Services (CCS) staff were sent home to tele-commute until further notice.The CCS phone line 614-292-5766 remains available for emergency assistance 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.

  5. The Career Services page on the departmental site has been redeveloped to hopefully make it more user-friendly. Check out helpful resources for building a resume, writing cover letters and more. There are resume templates that can be used to create a resume in case you don’t know where to start
