CAMPUS NEWS & EVENTS

  1. The “2024 Connections Corner: Student/DVM Luncheon” which will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 in conjunction with the Midwest Veterinary Conference (MVC)!

  2. The Department of Animal Science is seeking feedback from students, faculty and staff regarding the current website. This feedback will help shape information and resources shared on the website in the future, and the survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete.

  3. The department wants to wish everyone good luck with their finals! Pick up your own bag at Plumb Hall Room 116 or the Animal Science Building lobby starting Wednesday November 29th. Find more information here

  4. It is time for the 73rd Annual Turkey Sale! The Poultry Science Club at The Ohio State University is once again hosting a fundraiser selling turkeys for the holiday season. Bowman and Landes has kindly offered to partner with us for this event.

INTERNSHIP & PART-TIME ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. The 2024 ASAS DC Policy Intern applications are now being accepted! Deadline to apply is Wednesday, December 20, 2023. More information can be found

  2. Do you have Animal Science/ Pre-vet/ Environmental Science/ Psychology/Education/ students graduating in December that need an immersive internship? Green Chimney's have a unique internship from January to August which includes free room and board and a small stipend located in Brewster, NY.

  3. Columbus Humane is looking for up to three interns to participate in their Behavior and Enrichment Internship Program!  Animal sheltering is such a unique experience, and interns are able to gain so much understanding into canine body language, the importance of enrichment for all animals,

  4. Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh's Wildlife Rehabilitation Center is offering an internship program designed for studying biology or environmental sciences. Students will be provided with a well-rounded program in which they will have the opportunity to observe and assist our Licensed Wildlife

  6. STgenetics is excited to offer six internship positions for 2024. The areas with their applications consist of:

  7. For two years Texas Tech University has administered the National Bio- and Agri-defense Facility (NBAF) training program through support from USDA-APHIS. The objective of the program is to train undergraduate students in laboratory techniques and animal handling.

  8. Phibro Animal Health is looking for candidates for their summer undergraduate internship program, specifically dairy-interested students! Find more information here.

  9. Applications for the inaugural Select Sires Member Coorperative summer internship program are now open! The application period  will close on November 30, 2023, with at least 10 student interns chosen as the Select Sires Member Cooperative 2024 Summer Interns throughout the coop’s 27-state

  14. The Equine Reproduction Labratory at Colorado State University has new openings for 5 internship positions beginning on Janurary 8th through July 31st. More information can be found here

  15. PACE Ag Group has opened their 2024 internship applications! Interns will gain commercial dairy operation experience through completing the day-to-day tasks by working alongside managers and employees on our farms.

  16. Elanco Animal Health Incorporation has just released new internship positions for summer of 2024! Here are some different positions listed below along with their application portals:

FULL-TIME JOB ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Jefferson County is seeking a motivated, forward-thinking leader for the position of Fairgrounds Complex Manager OR Senior Fairgrounds Complex Manager.

  2. Sims Farms is searcing for a herd manager to manage a show cattle and breeding stock herd located near Marion, Ohio. Find more information here.

  3. The Indiana Beef Cattle Association is searching for a Communications, Operations and Membership Manager to join the staff. 

  4. ST is excited to have two new fulltime position opportunities and hopes to recruit some top talent to join the team at STgenetics as they launch an exciting new platform for animal health monitoring and dairy management.

  5. The Calf Milk Research unit at Land O'Lakes just opened a position for an assistant manager! Applicants should have calf and data handling experience to apply.

RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES

LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT

  1. Are you interested in research or graduate school? If so, attend the CFAES Undergraduate Honors and Research Distinction Mixer on Friday, Janurary 19th! Breakfast will be provided.

  2. Applications to apply for opprotunities as an undergraduate teaching assistant are open and will close December 1st at 11:59pm. Students are able to earn ANIMSCI 3488 credit.
