She will be teaching a variety of classes throughout the Animal Science curriculum as well as advising undergraduates. Monica’s student-centered approach to teaching includes utilizing active, collaborative learning through class discussions, activities and case studies to supplement lectures. Prior to this position, Monica worked in the Department of Animal and Avian Sciences at the University of Maryland, College Park where she taught 13 different courses ranging from goat and poultry management, anatomy and physiology to animal genetics and breeding, regulatory issues in animal production and advanced physiology courses. She also served as the Internship Coordinator helping students find internships, supporting their internship experiences and helping them prepare for future careers. Monica has a B.S. in Animal Science from Michigan State University and a Ph.D. in Animal Biology from the University of California, Davis. Monica’s goal is to help all her students identify their niche within the field of Animal Science and graduate well on their way to successful careers.
