ST genetics Ohio Heifer Center, located in South Charleston, has some great opportunities for full time or part time help in their maternity barn for current or past students. Their company is a cattle genetic facility that focuses on producing the next line of high-quality bulls and heifers. They have various opportunities on farm involving calf care, maternity, and fresh cow work. The maternity barn is responsible for the oversight of about 1,000 late gestations cows, as well as up to 60 newborns at a time. They calve in about 250-350 a month. Employees are trained to handle routine calvings, basic dystocias, and assist with c-sections. Additionally, they will be trained in the fundamentals of newborn care, colostrum management, and more. This position would be ideal for an individual wanting to get a good foundation in the dairy cattle industry! No cattle experience is necessary.
